Kurt has repaired the old plank subfloor, added an extra 3/4" plywood subfloor, insulated and vapor-locked the walls and ceiling, built a stub-wall (?), enlarged and moved the doorway 9" to the north (so the vanity can be installed properly), installed the tub, hung greenboard and tile backer, installed the ceiling fan, taped and mudded everything, and framed out the openings for the two medicine cabinets and the shower niche.

The Dark Hole of Destruction is beginning to look like a bathroom! These photos were taken before the taping and three coats of mud to hide the gaps.

This is the plumbing cut-out my neighbor fell into. She's thin, but I still don't know how she managed to get one leg stuck (all the way up to her @$$) in this opening. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt.

Plumbers helping Kurt install the 330 lb. cast iron tub. It's Kohler's "Villager." I love it. It's only 14" tall so it's very easy to step in and out of.

The tub has an extra-wide ledge on the wall side. Wes came home the after the tub was set to fine me "lounging" in it. I was streched out, drinking hot tea, reading a magazine, and had candles lit all along the ledge. (Fully dressed in my work clothes.) Wes about fell out laughing at me.

The tub area will be tiled with white 3x6 subway tiles and a small black liner accent or two. The inside of the niche will be covered with black, grey, and silver metalic glass tiles.

The super-duper heater/vent fan/light/nightlight fixture. Since the room doesn't have a window, I chose a bigger-than-needed vent fan. Dampness and mildew be gone! The arch is the top of the doorway leading into the livingroom. The other doorway is to the sewing room.

The best seat in the house...eventually! I have the ladder set over the toilet flange. Since my neighbor managed to fall into the tub's plumbing access cut-out; I don't want her going down this drain, too.

The area between the end of the tub and the outer wall will hold a custom-built (by us, LOL) pull out drawers cabinet and hamper area. More on that later (after I get it drafted!)

It's hard to "see" but these openings will hold the two medicine cabinets over the 48" vanity. Each recessed cabinet will have a black-framed mirrored door. One opens to the left, one to the right. A brushed nickle light fixture will be centered over each cabinet.
