Please say some big time prayers

My nephew's son, my great nephew was rushed to the hospital awhile ago. He was throwing up blood. From the info I'm getting the first hospital is sending him right now by helicopter to another one, my nephew (the dad) said he has a blood clot in his brain and he's dying! I am so sick right now from worry....I can't seem to get anymore details. My sister (his grandma) isn't answering her cell phone and none of my other nephews are either...this is making me crazy not knowing. They all live about 2 hours away from me. I was told by one nephew's wife on an instant message, everything just happened within the last hour and she has no details either. Alan is 22 years old...and beat a rare bone cancer in his leg about 6 years ago. He's been cancer free for the last 4 years. They almost amputated his leg back then but the City of hope doctors saved him from that and cured his cancer. I wish I had more details, but I need some big time prayers for my family right now and I know I can get them here. I am so worried about all of them. My sister lost her husband in '98 to prostate cancer, she has 4 sons and this is her oldest grandson. She couldn't take another loss, not one like this....this is just terrible waiting to hear some news. Please pray for Alan....he needs all the prayers we can pray.

GT3 prayers going here in Tx for all concerned, your family for strength, the doctors for steady hands, all the nurses and everyone else involved to do everything just right to bring about the best possible outcome.

I TOTALLY agree with Angie! After having my 1st nest attempt last year fail after losing the young to cold weather (50's, rainy, windy,) They started another clutch and I was in fear of another nest failure. The eggs seemed to be going on a little too long w/o hatching. It really discouraged and upset me but then my face lit up when I opened the box to skimpy newborns! It kept my spirits up and resulted in 4 new BBs in the world! And Dad raised them BY HIMSELF after he lost his mate. It was a rather down season and looked like a failed one but me and the blues kept pushing forward and all ended well! I had 3 separate pairs raise 1 clutch each by the end of the season. Thank you for the kind words and prayers for our contractor. He came to our house last night to tell us what happened, how his doctor feels he's doing, and his plans to have our remodel completed. It was great to see him, but so dreadful hearing the harrowing details. Basically, he was making our cabinets and the the piece of wood kicked back and in an instant he lost portions of 3 fingers of his right (dominant) hand. Just horrible. He is a meticulous, super careful guy. He said he's healing well, but is really unhappy to see what remains of his hand. His told us "I've been doing this for 30 years and have only cut myself once...well, I can't do anything about it now, I just have to move forward". He has to wait another 10 days before he'll be reevaluated (which is driving him crazy). He's already lined up another cabinet maker to finish creating the cabinet boxes on Monday and has a team set up to stain them. Tom is not the kind of guy to sit still for very long. I pray that with physical therapy and some modifications he'll be able to continue his business. He's one of those guys who is always busy and does such a great job that he's usually booked out a year in advance. My husband and I told him to take as long as he needs to heal-he is more important than our kitchen. We can make do with our "indoor camping" for a long time. The house is tight and warm, we have a fridge, stove and temporary sink, a card table and chairs, and a beautiful sawhorse/closet door island. He brought with him the front to one of the cabinets so we could see how they will look-beautiful! When all is done, I'll post pics. I've lurked here for over a year and have learned so much. Thanks Nita for the link to the update. Another prayer answered that Marilyn and the animals are all okay and no major damage. Had a cell phone call from a dear friend in Houston. They too are fine, just limbs down, fence down, and no power. It's hard though on her elderly mother who is housebound and can't be moved. News said power may not be restored for 2-3 weeks.

Thanks everyone. We saw her again today and she is still being given lots of meds through the IV's. She is still unresponsive and they don't know what is causing her mental confusion. Her kidneys are working slighly better so it is a waiting game now. She is still listed as critical. Could go one way or another. Thanks again for the prayers.

I'm so sorry your family is going through such a rough time. I know waiting is hard but this is a very delicate surgery and it can't be rushed. Keep in mind Alan is young and has beaten the odds before. I'm keeping Alan and your family in my thoughts & prayers.

Prayers from Canada too, to all of you. This is just so terribly sad. It is so hard to be at a distance when family problems abound. I do pray for all of you and please keep us posted.

Most hospitals won't let you use cell phones while inside, so your sister may have problems getting through to you.

Miracles do happen. I pray that this is one of them.

I'm so sorry to read of this terrible surgery & the agony of the waiting, for you & his family!
Having been in this same situation twice (my mom & my ex)..here's what you can do...
If you can get the hospital's number...call it and first of all-ASK for BOTH numbers: 1. The neurosurgery waiting room number AND the intensive care waiting room number. Have her transfer your call to the 1st one, then when anyone answers-ask to speak to anyone there from (family's last name ). If they aren't in that waiting room, hang up & dial the ICU's waiting room number. Hope this helps.
