For my one and only living Aunt. She's my mom's sister and she had a stroke yesterday. She has been living in an assisted care home for the last 20 years and now has to go to a nursing home if she recovers from this. I just love my conversations with her on the phone, but haven't seen her since I was very small. She distanced herself from my grandparents when she was 17 and always kept in touch with my mom and other aunt, who are now both gone. This is my last aunt and I hate to see her go. She sounds so much like my mom on the phone...it was comforting to listen to her. She has so many stories of my mom, her and my other aunt growing up and what it was like.

A very funny and feisty lady. I feel like I'm losing the last link to my mom in some way. They say she is responding and wanting to go home. At first I heard that if she pulled through this she'd be paralized on her left side, she already has lost most of her vision over the last few years. Not sure what her prognosis is now, I am calling the hospital today to find out. Please keep her in your prayers. I just want her to be able to live comfortably and happy in the nursing home until her time comes. She is 88 years old and very independent, this will not make her happy. She's been on her own since she was 17...married a few times but never had kids. Had many interesting jobs to support herself, I always told her she should write a book!

It's a strange feeling knowing that when she's gone I'll have no more aunts and uncles.....I had so many growing up and never thought about the day that they would all be gone. So sad....
