I read an article on Yahoo homepage about them.

They were originated in England and are currently rated as the hottest pepper in the world...up to 100 times hotter than a habenero and they make Jalapeno's taste like ice cream.

There is a USDA rule that if they are sold in a supermarket they must be packed in a plastic bag with a warning that even handling them without gloves can cause skin burns.

I would suggest using them very sparingly until you see what your getting into.

Nev er heard of ghost peppers. I've seen "ghost" white pumpkins, but of course they aren't hot at all.

On the Scoville rating system:
Bell pepper - 0
jalepeno - 2,500 - 8,000
habanero - 100,000 - 350,000
ghost peppers 850,000 - 1,000,000

I'd be afraid of ruining a pot of beans with just a sliver of those things.
You could put them in oil and use the oil sparingly or dry them and use a really tiny bit experimentally, but at that heat index, I don't know that there will be much flavor - just heat.
In addition to being very careful with your skin (an Lord, don't touch your eyes.) I'd be wary of cooking them inside - the fumes from just serranos can irritate the throat and lungs.

Unless you are really into heat I would not use those for cooking beans etc. These peppers are about HEAT, not seasoning or spicing things up.

Better to make use to them for a salsa.

Be very care when using these types of peppers. Wear gloves and even goggles may not be a bad idea. Wipe everything down with detergent to cut the oils after and never ever touch your face. Milk is a good antidote.

I am very familiar with using heat from peppers because it "hobby" for my DS for a time. He once had us evacuating the entire house with a recipe for a salsa fresca he was churning up in the food processor. The memory of it still brings tears to my eyes. It was as if we had all been pepper sprayed.

Lucky You!! I've been trying to get my hands on some Ghost Peppers. I'm having some sent from Iowa. I make a Hot Pepper Jelly that I want to add a LITTLE of the Ghost Pepper to & then make a hot sauce with some of the extra. Like the other ladies said...handle with care :)

Whatever you decide to do with them, wear a pair of disposable gloves when you are handling them! Even after washing your hands thoroughly the oil can remain on your hands and transfer to your eyes and other body parts later!
When we were staying in Barbados on a plantation we witnessed a female farm worker in agony after picking peppers and not washing up properly before taking her break!
