Hawaii Five-0's season premiere

Did anyone else watch tonight's episode of Hawaii Five-0? What'd you think? I didn't like all the computer graphics that were used - they were too fake looking. I prefer shows when they have good storylines, interesting characters, and good acting.

I thought it was far fetched. I enjoyed Blue Bloods. Comes on right after
Hawaii Five O.

When we travel province-to-province, many/most get insurance, as most provinces only pay for a (small?) percentage of the actual cost if we need care in another province. Same for visiting othe countries ... and especially the U.S., where health costs for identical services seem to be much higher than in many other parts of the world. In some of our provinces, there is a fee, usually payable annually or monthly, to help cover the cost of the health care in that province. In some provinces, there is no fee specifically to deal with in-province health care. In Ontario, we used to have an Ontario Health Insurtance Plan fee, then it was cancelled for a few years, and recently reinstituted ... as a Health Levy - not a tax, you understand (as the re-elected Premier of our Province had promised, prior to an election, not to increase taxes). But we calculate the Health Levy on our annual federal and provincial income tax form, it varies with the level of our net income, and is payable along with the income tax remittance. Ah, kitsch...That's how I started in on paint-by-number, and then I found I really really liked some of them and was so touched by the proud (usually Palmer method) signature on the back of them...but I have one that even I can't display. I'm not sure what to do with it--I had to get it, couldn't just leave it there--it's a PBN still life of items associated with John Wilkes Booth, including a program from Ford's Theatre, etc...it's so CREEPY! I feel it would be bad karma to display it but I can't bear to part with it. I've never seen one like it. And I have two that my DH found at g'will that are going in our master bedroom, believe it or not--they are *gorgeous* Mt. Rainier-like landscapes of mountain forest creeks...I mean they're really beautiful. Not at all usual colors or style. And I have another piece that I *thought* was maybe someone working with a PBN to make it somewhat abstracted, but it's not a usual landscape for them...it's such a cool piece--I should try to photograph it for y'all. I love the vertical-horizontal-curve tension in it... And Susan, good gracious, your grandson is setting the world on fire already! :)

Of the new shows this season I am looking forward to watching the Defenders and Detroit 1-8-7. I live just across the river from Detroit and this show is generating a lot of buzz about it and one of my favourite Canadian comedians Shaun Majumber plays one of the detectives. It is also kind of cool that everyone who watches it will see the Detroit skyline from Windsor that I see everyday. Anne

Most of the stories are kind far-fetched.The acting is good. I watch it for the "eye candy." The cinematography is often gorgeous! Yes, Blue Bloods is GREAT!

We had recorded it and watched it last night. The computer graphics didn't bother me. I'm with drewsmaga, I watch it at least partly for the eye candy, as I'm a fan of Alex O'Louglin. It's also sentimental; I remember watching the original with my parents when I was a child.

I've seen some clips from Blue Bloods and it looks good. I'm also a Tom Selleck fan. I just don't have the time to add any more shows to my regulars.

Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like they did the same thing that Major Crimes did in one episode, relying heavily on "new technology" that just about overpowered the script and the acting by moving along so fast that you didn't have time to absorb anything that was happening and being a bit on the ludicrous side.

We watch Hawaii Five-0 for the scenery. Tried Blue Bloods once but it didn't grab us, even though I love Tom Selleck.

We watch both shows on Friday nights, but definitely Blue Bloods is our favorite.

I agree that the CGI in Hawaii Five-O was a bit over the top and didn't add that much to the production quality. If you are going to use CGI, use it well or save your money. I wasn't crazy about all of the story lines that were introduced in the final segment. I don't mind watching a few shows with season-long story lines, but I prefer an action show like Hawaii Five-O to be written in a crime-of-the-week format.

Blue Bloods is one of my favorite series right now. I think it has a nice balance between action and character-driven moments in each episode.

W"e used to record and watch "Five-O" for the beautiful views of Oahu and Kauai, but haven't lately. My DH calls it "The Tropical Cartoon".
