It has been known for a long time that inhaling chemicals may harm the body or to a developing fetus. Artificial scents are chemicals. I try to avoid anything scented but it is impossible to avoid everything. BTW there is some tricky wording an labels...........When something says it is "unscented" it does NOT mean they have not added ingredients that do nothing except affect to the olfactory senses. In other words *masking scents* are added to products to make them seem like they have no scent - scents that counteract the odor of the product.

My dd is 27-even back when I was pregnant, it was emphatically advised that pregnant women avoid makeup, hair dye, etc, because the chemicals were known to be dangerous to the fetus. This is nothing new. I think the problem is that too many women simply ignore this sort of advice, and it has to be trotted out every few years as 'new' so that more can be reached and learn to protect their precious babies.

I remember when pregnant women were urged to smoke because "it's relaxing." Yes, I really read this in a magazine when I was a child. I think it was Life.
