Rebecca, you are probably not going to believe this. I have had off and on some swelling of my mouth since November, and in 2 instances have had a full blown allergic reaction. I just recently had one today. My face and lips swelled, hives, feeling like I wanted to come out of my skin with the itching, but there was no difficulty breathing though. I took 2 benadryl as soon as it started. (Dorie told me I was starting to look like Daffy Duck for a while.) What got me to thinking is that a person at work had a severe swelling reaction of his lips and face recently. I found today that his was caused by Aleve, which got me to thinking like you said that this could be drug related. My doctor put me on prescription Prilosec last July, and it seems like all of this started up in November and gradually got worse. My other 2 meds I missed yesterday, but the one I didn't was the Prilosec that I took early last night. I got up this morning feeling not quite right and about noon the full blown reaction started. (Glad I didn't go to work.) When I felt better I did a google search on Prilosec. When you look at the allergic side effects to prilosec it is classic. I have all but two of them. (Unexplainable nausea and vomiting from out of nowhere is just one.) I called the pharmacist and she told me that out of the 3 meds I'm on that if one of them is the culprit the Prilosec would be the likely one. I called my doctors office and have another appointment in regard to this Tuesday. They are closed tomorrow and she is out sick. I gave the receptionist all of the low down. Starting today, I have taken myself off of it. We'll see what happens, but if this is the culprit, it could likely be responsible for the whole scent intolerance thing going on.

Friend of mine and I wore Windsong all during high school. She bought me a bottle a few years ago and it was AWFUL to me now! LOL Don't know if my body chemistry has changed, or my nose is better now! LOL Used to love White Linen. Wore Ralph Lauren's Romance for a long time and now I'm back to wearing Burberry (the original scent). Don't wear a lot of anything - used to teach with a girl that turned me off of all scents for a long time. She bathed in whatever she wore. Isn't it funny how so many memories are tied up with our noses!? LOL

@Sandy1616... Just so you know, those Finish Tablets don't include a dramatic amount of Phosphate, compared to what we had in american detergents. Because Sodium TripolyPhosphate or Sodium Hexmetaphosphate is non-toxic, detergent manufacturers never listed it on the boxes in the United States. They we're however required to list "Phosphorus Content".. under Federal Law, but... that didn't really give a clear indicator. An Electrasol Tab containing 8.7% Phosphorus, is about 33% STPP by weight. I don't have exact figures on hand for each phosphorus level on this computer, but I will have to post them at some point. I really, really want to make a point of telling this. Cascade & Electrasol had a lot more than "6-7% Phosphate". Complexing Phosphates we're the Builders & Main Ingredients in these Automatic DW Formulations. They we're Powerhouses because they we're formulated with enough Phosphate to preform. I say this because you shouldn't expect a dramatic difference between Phosphate Somat & Phosphate Cascade. Both *have* about the same amounts of STPP in them.

Interesting Oakley that Wood Sage and Sea Salt had such a bad beginning for you. But glad it was pleasant in the end. I've had other things like that but can't remember what they were right now. And sometimes I've had the opposite too of something I thought I liked originally then after a bit it was terrible. Thank goodness for samples!!! For you 'bad dog smell', if they are rugs, I'd set them outside in the sun and fresh air a few hours and that always did it for my Mom when we had a dog. Of course if the rug is large, that's no easy task! I had great luck with bad smells from a healthcare worker that we had for my Dad not too long ago. Talk about perfume overload!! She used essential oils, smoked cigarettes and then tried to cover all that up with some sort of strong cleaner or laundry detergent and a strong mouthwash!! I could smell ALL the layers. Yuk!! I was gagging and could not get 10 feet from her. We had to cover the chair she sat in with a blanket so it wouldn't permeate the fabric. My Dad had lost most of his sense of smell and he smoked cigars so it did not bother him plus she was great with him so I just put up with it. But I couldn't stand it and by the 3rd evening we had gotten an Orek air purifier. It was a larger newer model that I had used before but worked fantastic. I could now be in the same room with her. And by the next day, it was the freshest smelling room in the house. And she was no longer ruining the furniture. Maybe this could work for you? No I don't work for Orek or anything, just reporting what worked well for us and saved us from having to fire an otherwise great worker. The new bigger one we used is called Orek DualMax Air Purifier and the smaller size we had before was called the XL Professional Air Purifier. I've since even used the big one to get cigarette smoke and mothball smells out of a few leather purses and after a few days they smelled like leather again. In fact, I'm doing this same thing as a favor for a few friends of mine. Hope you can find something that can help you.
