Loved Chantilly and Tweed most of all, but started wearing Chanel # 5 in 1968 and still do.

Others are Estee Lauder Youth Dew, and my mom's all time favorite, White Shoulders.

Esta Lauder, can't remember the essence, but wore it when I was pg 44 years ago.

Have not worn it since then.

When I was in junior high school a boy gave me an "Evening in Paris" gift set - two of the blue bottles and a soap. I can still smell that scent when I think about it, and I actually kept those bottles for years.

Also, Stan Hywet Hall in Akron used to sell little pinch bottles of Violet scented perfume. The bottles had a violet painted on them and also a real ribbon around the necks. I still have an empty bottle in my vanity drawer.

I was going to add that one can still by Evening in Paris from The Vermont Country Store catalog I think, although I have yet to do so. Maybe that will be my late Christmas gift to myself.

Woodhue was my signature scent growing up. I also loved Prnce Matchebelli's Stradivarius.

I still wear Chantilly today even though they have changed it. Men always compliment me on it and want to know what I'm wearing since most everyone else is wearing the latest "scent of the day".

I have always believed that if a scent works on you that is what you should wear. Too many women becomes slaves to "fashion" and stink rather than smelling nice. Also less is better.

When I was in high school I had a classmate stationed in Northern Africa and for Christmas one year, he sent me some Chanel #5.
My little brother used it liberally on his tennis balls....he said they were stinky before using the perfume.

My (now deceased) sister loved Emeraude and Wind Song. I wore Muguet du bois.

I used to wear Xia Xiang in the 80's. I don't remember who made it, but it is discontinued now. Dottie

Quick! Somebody help me! Could Muguet du Bois possibly be what my dear departed favorite aunt always wore in the late 50s? I could never remember or pronounce the name, but it always made me think of pears and apples! I loved how she smelled...or maybe I was just crazy about her.

Does Muguet du Bois remind anyone of pears and apples? Is it still sold? Oooo, I'm excited!

I used to like Love's Baby Soft. I found some at Walgreens this summer and bought a bottle. Not as wonderul as I recall. lol

I had a girl friend and a boyfriend that both wore musk perfumes and I can not stand that smell any longer. Ick!

I remember loving My Sin. Haven't thought of that in years.

Thanks for all the good memories. I think what got me thinking about perfumes was that I'd been watching the movie "The Christmas List" The star played a gal who could pick out the perfect perfume for a customer by asking questions and could also tell a scent whil blindfolded. (cute movie)

Ohmygosh I haven't seen it anywhere for ages! I used to love this stuff, then the drug store quit carrying it. I'd forgotten all about it til now!

"Evening in Paris" plus popcorn is what Woolworth's smelled of.

OMG, I haven't thought of "White Shoulders" for ages. My mother had that, but usually wore "Chanel #5". "WS" and that "Jean Nate" stuff were pretty 'astringent' to my nose.

I liked "Miss Dior", and later "Joy". My favorite was a Revlon/Borghese scent "Fiamma".

I can't recall the title of the novel, but in it the main character's mother had died violently when the girl was very young. She hunted for years to find her mom's perfume. It turned out to be no perfume at all. It was Pond's cold cream.

My mother's best friend always smelled of Orlane products. I used to buy some for her whenever we were in St. Thomas beause you couldn't get the moisturizer with 'bee serum' in the States. (Bee serum -- uh-huh, right, whatever. Don't mess with people's beliefs.)

Emeraude by Coty... I liked this perfume and my kids knew I liked it so every year I got a big new bottle for Christmas. At one point, I believe I had 3 or 4 ahead :-)

Wow...what a trip down memory lane...I loved Patchoulli...but got pulled over for speeding and he searched my car looking for pot...I showed him the bottle...he smelled it and still didn't believe it was the perfume...

I wear Jai Ose' something I wore in the 80's...I find it on ebay...the perfumes never really lose their smell..the colognes and toilet waters turn rank pretty quick...\\

My Mom always wore jergens lotion...I love it that their soap smells the same...such fond memories!

Shalimar is my MIL's Favorite. She is in a nursing home. Secret Santa must have asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she received it as a gift. She was beaming at Christmas with her fragrance. My mom always wore White Shoulders.

I forgot all about the perfume "The Ritz" I used to wear. A friend from Korea once told me that "middle age women" wear The Ritz! I was in my 20s early 30s. Then they came out with "Charles of The Ritz" and I started to wear that. I'm not sure if that is still available or not. At the time, I thought it to be very expensive mostly because I didn't make much money.

I used to wear Geminesse by Max Factor and loved it but it is no more.

Shalimar is way too potent for me. I have a little story about it though.

I went through kindergarten, grammar school and junior high with pretty much the same group of kids. Then we all went on to a huge (over 1000) high school.

Soon after we began high school one of my long-time classmates, Ray, became ill with leukemia and died. Although neither of us had known him well, one of my good friends and I attended his wake -- a first for both of us.

Time moved on. One morning just before I graduated from high school Ray's mother appeared at our front door. I wasn't home, but my mother received her. She had a gift for me. It was a large bottle of Shalimar perfume in a beautiful purple velvet case. I was completely nonplussed; why was this nice lady giving me such an expensive gift? I didn't know her, and her son had been a mere aquaintance, a very shy and quiet boy.

My mother explained Ray's mom wanted to give me a graduation gift because her son had had a crush on me for years!

In the eighth grade a boy gave me an "Evening in Paris" set for Christmas too, Schoolhouse. In high school my girlfriend worked in a drugstore and gave me my first bottle of "White Shoulders." I loved it and still remember the scent. I used to wear "Charlie" and now like Estee Lauder's "Beautiful." Jergen's hand lotion always makes me think of my mother.

My very favorite of all time was Joy. My hubby brought some home to me when he got out of the Navy...he said it was the most expensive perfume in the world, so it must be true...lol. I also loved White Shoulders and wore that when I was in high school. Heaven Scent was another favorite. Now I usually wear Avon's Soft Musk or Navy.

Last year I purchased a real patchoulli plant at a local nursery. All you had to do was fluff its leaves a little and it reeked. I had never heard of it before nor smelled that odor either. Some one told me "Why that is what hippies used to cover up the smell of not bathing." and maybe more?Huh?

In high school, I mostly wore Intimate or Wind Song. Oh, and does anyone remember Golden Woods by Max Factor? Loved that one. My sister loved Kiku, I think it was called; it came in a yellow bottle.

I have seen many of the scents you all have posted. I started using Jean Nate' waaaaay back when and I still use it when I go out anywhere, shopping, church, running errands.. I have gotten more complements when I wear it than any other I have ever worn.

I have some Truth by Calvin Klein, and some Chanel #5, and some White Linen. My mother's signature scent was White Shoulders.

Friend of mine and I wore Windsong all during high school. She bought me a bottle a few years ago and it was AWFUL to me now! LOL Don't know if my body chemistry has changed, or my nose is better now! LOL

Used to love White Linen. Wore Ralph Lauren's Romance for a long time and now I'm back to wearing Burberry (the original scent). Don't wear a lot of anything - used to teach with a girl that turned me off of all scents for a long time. She bathed in whatever she wore.

Gosh, I had forgotten about Windsong, and now I can't get their jingle out of my head..."I can't seem to forget you, your Windsong stays on my mind." (I don't remember what I did last weekend, but I remember that! LOL!)

It was my signature scent for many, many years. I still have bottles of Ciara perfume, body spray, lotion and powder and wear it when I know I'm going to be around someone who has commented in the past that they like it. But I am going with other lighter, less sweet fragrances most days.

And yes, it is still available.

helencolby, I still wear Jean Nate as well, usually in summer. It just screams summer to me for some reason, I imagine an aunt or someone must have worn it. I still love it.

And whoever mentioned White Shoulders.....oh yes, I fond memory. I still wear it or tried to, my chemistry or their formula changed. Smells the same in the bottle but not when I put it on.
