At least you still have powdered detergent in your stores.
I see shelves of liquid detergents here.

In my store, they have the pet food and laundry in the same aisle.
I despise buying food for "the kids" in that aisle. I hold my breath, grab what I need and run.

I don't care for liquid for clothes washers, they are heavy to lift, more prone to spills. Liquids in dishwashers don't get the dishes as clean. I do not like fragrance in anything. I order Odorcide (room spray) off the internet because everything else smells, either of fragrance or chemicals. Walmart used to sell Odorcide, but they didn't sell enough to bother I guess.

Around here pet and cleaners seem to go together a lot in stores too. I'm not crazy about it either but I don't buy pet food at the grocery store anyway.

Powders have been eliminated from some stores but still have a small place in some stores. I was wondering if powders would get the compaction like liquid and what do I find in yesterday's headlines? Briefly: "Procter & Gamble Company is planning to compact its entire US and Canadian portfolio of powder laundry detergents beginning in February 2011"

The only thing worse than the cleaners aisle is candles. I don't know what people are putting up their noses that burns out their olfactory systems like this but can't they smell anything???

Oh, but I love going down the aisle where they sell the coffee beans! That area smells WONDERFUL! :-)

This 'milk in the bag' thing isn't exactly a recent 'invention' here in Canada. lol I remember my grandmother had milk in bags, and that was 35 years ago.

I agree with you on the scented products. I don't understand why people want to wear clothes scented with flowery smells from their laundry detergent. Sometimes when I'm out in the yard, I can tell the neighbours are washing because I smell chemical/flowery smells in the air. We have had compacted laundry powders for awhile, too, by the way.

And, I don't even go near the candle aisle in the store...(I guess you can tell I have chemical sensitivities).

In our mediocre grocery store, things are still sold in liquid and powder form, and the pet food is an aisle over.
As for the smell, I like a clean smell, but perfumy or flowery smells give me a headache. For a short while, I could buy Fabreze room spray in a clean mint smell, but that was discontinued in a hurry.

and for any reason, I wish we could have John Candy back. He was a talented comedian.Loved his movies.

lindsey_ca, I think they need to put the coffee beans near the bakery! (Not the "bread aisle" but a place that actually bakes bread and pastries!

There's one scented detergent that I don't find objectionable and that's the Apple Mango Tango Gain, but the problem is that I don't really care to walk around smelling like a fruitbowl either.

Even though I was born without a sense of smell, my nose will tickle and I start sneezing and/or coughing when I'm around all those overbearing scents.

I'm always looking for unscented products since I don't know if I'd be appreciated smelling like a bouquet, the ocean, a pine tree, or bowl of fruit. LOL

Let's keep this discussion on a "well-bred" (and nice-smelling) basis, shall we?

I purchased a small box of fabric softener sheets. But not to actually use in the dryer. I bought them for a project I was doing. Anyway, the bagger stuck the sheets in with a bottle of Coke. I could not drink the Coke as the smell seemed to just stick to the whole bottle and I swear to you, I even thought I could taste it. I ended up tossing the soda bottle which just irked me.

Trish, I once stored my unopened fabric softener sheets next to my zip lock food storage bags. Not a good idea the storage bags took on the smell of the fabric sheets and I could not use them to store food in. They were not even in an enclosed place they were setting on a open shelf in my basement.

Sue, LOL, you said it! I always thought when clothes smelled they needed to be washed but good grief, between the overpowering soaps/body washes, shampoos, hairsprays, detergents, then pile on a dryer sheet and marinate in cheap jug perfume... Whew! Ah, I figured it out... it's personal defense! Nobody would assault, rape, rob or even go near these people!

Trishaw that really struck a chord with me. I really have gotten to the point I want to bag my own groceries. I try to tell them, refrigerated & frozen together and NO CHEMICALS with edibles. The last time they packed bathroom cleaner with the fresh produce. I was to annoyed about the crushed bread to worry about it too much though.

And I still like the George Carlin routine about my wash smells like all outdoors.... (and his response) you haven't lived in MY neighborhood lady!!!
