Is This Real or Spam?

I just got this in an e-mail. The grammer is not perfect so I don't know and I'm afraid to click on the link.

Dear PayPal Member,

We recorded a payment request from "Skype -www.skype.com- Online Number"

to enable the charge of $60.00 on your account.

Because the order was made from an Indian internet address, we put an Exception Payment on

Transaction ID: #4KVB4181P7481062P motivated by our Geographical Tracking System.

THE PAYMENT IS PENDING FOR THE MOMENT.

If you made this transaction or if you just authorize this payment, please ignore or remove this email

message. The transaction will be shown on your monthly statement as "Skype - Online Number".

If you didn't make this payment and would like to decline the $60.00 billing to your card, please follow

the link below to cancel the payment :

I would just go to my paypal account and see for myself if anyone has sent you a request.....

Thanks.

I never use Paypal so didn't realize I could do that.

There was nothing there, so I sent a copy to Paypal just to make sure and deleted the e-mail.

" Always happy to have a discussion. Conventional medicine practiced by physicians is science applied with art. The key word is science, that's why the NIH and med schools spend billions each year for research to understand and treat diseases and conditions. Chiropractic practices fail scientific scrutiny, and no research is done. Reach your own conclusion. Benefits are explained by the placebo effect - which is can be real. It's otherwise hocus-pocus, quackery, use whatever words you like . Schools - while most people that apply to med schools aren't accepted, almost all people going to chiropractic schools are. It's about as hard to get in to them as the trade schools that teach auto mechanics. Insurance companies are happy to cover chiropractors because the charges are lower than from physicians. The danger with chiropractors is when they try to treat conditions they don't understand and make the patient think it's unnecessary to see a physician. Most stay away from that because they realize that a backrub does nothing for diabetes, for instance. Backs don't have alignment, and can't be adjusted. If it helps your pain and you feel better, so be it. A native American shaman has about as much to offer you (or more) in medical treatment than a chiropractor.

Pineapple sandwiches. I just can't wrap my brain around that. I would likely have thrown them out also. I think scrapple and SPAM were developed with the same thing in mind...using up scraps of meat. But scrapple is made with corn meal and a variety of spices while SPAM is primarily meat, with a lot of salt, a little sugar and various preservatives. Thrifty housewives the world over have come up with ways to use scraps of meat, combining them with starches of one type or another to stretch a little meat into a meal for a hungry family. Every culture where meat is consumed for example, has some form of meatball, vegetable stuffed with some combination of meat scraps & starch, and some form of sandwich involving meat wrapped in bread of some sort or at least starch of some kind.

Wordle, both the original and the NYT, is fine. All the offshoots are suspect. The browser used has nothing to do with it. Once again, don't click on every link, don't sign up for everything that someone mentions.

Never ever follow a link in any email like that. I hope you went to the PayPal site separately, not thru the link.

"Dear PayPal Member,"

This is a dead giveaway! If PayPal sends you a legitmate message, it will have your name, not "PayPal Member"!!!

Sounds like a scam/ spam. I got an email message that there's a package for me being shipped from Spain valued at $250,000 being held in Customs. All I have to do is pay "insurance" on it and it's mine. No, I'm waiting for that three billion from the African widow.

Boy - you must really rate:

I think that about the highest of several hundred offers that have come to me is about 50 million.

I was thinking a while ago that if I added them all up, that they might come to about a billion ... or is it about a billion as my share?

Imagine how much an 80-year-old would have to spend daily to go through it all, prior to death!

Of course ... one could leave some to loved ones ... charities ... "widows and orphans", etc.

Never, ever, ever follow a link. Always log into the site separately. This includes anything that involves money transfers or use of personal information (bank, investment accounts, credit cards, PayPal, etc.). They also do this is phone calls. They leave you a message saying Citi Bank (or some other very common card) is calling about your account and you need to call back right away or a hold will be put on. Never call the number they give you, call the number on the back of your card.

If PayPal sends you a message, it's very generic. They ask you to go to their site and log in under your name and password.

If it were me, I'd contact PayPal and send them a copy of your email. They'll sort it out.

I've reported a couple of spammers this way.
