I'm not raven...but, I had your problem awhile back.

My wifi password turned out to be the really long series of numbers and letters that are on the label of my router.

I always suggest when somene sets up their router to put the pass code on the router somewhere, I used a sticky and stick it to the bottom of the router.

There is a small free program I will link to that you can install and run and it will tell you what your wifi network password is, let me clarify the wifi password is NOT the same as the password to enter your router settings, what you need is the wireless access pass code.

this program is sometimes flagged by some antivirus programs it is not any type of dangerous program but the technology it has to use to retrieve your info from your own pc makes some red flag it, if that happens download it, turn off your antivirus for the few seconds it takes to install it then you can turn it back on, it only takes a few seconds to get your info.
this is not a program that can be used to steal info you must be on the actual computer that you want to get the info off of so you can not use it from your pc to do anyone else's. I like to make sure people understand that.

You can download any of these that are epub format, some sites you do need to select which format you want, save them to your pc and use the usb cable to transfer them or use the SD card method which I prefer

PS I meant to tell you once you use that little wireless key finder program go ahead and go to your add remove programs and remove it that way your antivirus won't alert to it and you are all done with it anyway.

Joann -- We get e-books books from our library -- usually 14-day loans. LOTS of free books! You may have to go on a wait list for newer ones.

no not hard at all just go to that page and click on the download button for the little program, you might not get the warning I just wanted to give that info should it happen so it would not scare you. once it is on the pc just double click it to install and run it, it will pop right up with the info for your wireless pass code just like it shows in the picture on the download page. Very very small and fast program.
You have to do it with a pc that is connected to that wifi router of course.
I promise it is not complicated.

My DDIL tryed it with no luck at all. Is there anyone I can call to get the password? I don't know if my look book is working correctly, does it usually take long to turn on & off. I may have to find somewhere to return it when I get back. I also put in all the codes from the
D-Link and none of those worked either. ~sigh~

no your passcode was set up by who ever set up your router so no one else would have that info.

Please tell me what went wrong when you tried it? you do need to install the program on a computer that is using that wifi router. When you download and install that little program it will come up with the info that looks just like the picture on that page you got it from.
Did you get that that to come up. Tell me exactly what happened and maybe I can help. It is a very small simple program so it should work.

What version of windows are you using? xp? vista? 7?

You need to get your lookbook somewhere that it can connect to wifi, it needs the 2 big updates, as soon as you connect to wifi it will come up saying it found updates it will do one then right after that it will do the second, those will make it work much better.
don't give up!! It is just like a computer when you turn it off and on it has to boot up so yes it does take some time when going on and off it is loading the system.

there is another way to get your passcode but it takes accessing the router and my guess is you do not have that password either. That is why that program is the best way to do it.

Is there anyplace you know of that who ever set up your router might have written down this info? It is info that they knew would be very important to keep. Possibly on the router manual or something?

DH set it up and he never wrote down anything. No one can figure out what it was. I have XP, My DDIL did it so I don't know what went wrong. I'll have to check with her again. The look book did update yesterday as far as I know.
Now If I am flying, can I hook up to their wifi or someone elses? DS tried it on his pc with no luck either. (I guess it' a family thing about not saving passwords!)

how was the lookbook able to update if you could not connect it to your wifi? Had you gone somewhere and let it do that?

Yes you can get the wifi to connect to any of the free wifi spots, like starbucks and most hotels all have it, you just go to the wifi connection page and have it scan for open wifi and if it finds one select it and let it connect.

I connected it to my neighbors's wifi. I never found the password. It somehow connected for the update here at home. Don't ask me how but I did watch what I thought was the update. I am a lookbook dummy. Thanks for all you help. If I like the lookbook a little I may just have to upgrade to something else. I think I would like a touch screen.

ahhh well it is possible that you have someone that has wifi near you that does not have their's secured so it is open, if that is the case you should be able to go to that wifi settings page in the lookbook, have it scan for wifi it will find any that are in range if it does not show the lock on them then you can double click any that are showing and use that wifi. There is nothing dangerous since you are only using it to connect to the bookstore at kobo and to get your updates, the update will tell you that it has an update and will ask you if you want to proceed, then it will download it and install it then reboot, then it will do the same thing again since there are 2 updates to get once both are done you are done.

You do not need the wifi at all unless you just want to get your books from kobo. I don't use it on mine, just check for updates occasionally.

I get my books from those links I provided, I download the epub file to my pc then onto the sd card and put that in the lookbook. So once you get the updates I would not worry much about the wifi.

but as I said check to see if it is finding any open wifi in your area that would take care of that.
