Dinner thread: late again

I do apologize. We had veal marsala and spaghetti and we will have homemade brownies for dessert.

I had a frozen pasta, cheese and broccoli dinner to which I added multicolored grape tomatoes before microwaving. It was really yummy, especially the tomatoes. I added coarsely ground salt and pepper.

Hey Paula! Me again! LOL But I like discussing since a life-long hobby of mine has been meterology! I have been observing the sudden change in weather for the past month or so and have taken note of the jet stream, ie., we're in a pattern that we haven't had for awhile - the "dual" jet stream, with a line to the south and one to the north. I think this is good news for many areas that received little or no snowfall last year - particularly those in the higher elevations... However, I don't look forward to any blizzards this winter...!! After the monstrosity of Jan. '96 (and then near 70Â° F temps not long after to cause floods from all that snow melting), I have had more than enough winter for my lifetime! LOL We are starting to mimic that Fall of '95 precipitation pattern a bit. However, I will really start bugging out if Fall of '93 patterns emerge, with storms continually forming and moving out of the Pacific NW, that dive down into the center of the country and then track NE up the East coast. That pattern produced 17 ice storms for our area back in Dec. '93 - Feb. '94. UGH. Interesting info about the Hudson Bay temp and its impact though.

I think that Ellendi likes to make her own dressings...I know that I do. The flavor is worth it for the five or ten minutes it takes to whip up a favorite dressing. We're leaving town today for a few days so I didn't want to do much cooking last night. Or eating. I always eat light before and during a long drive. Anyway, we had kabobs with chicken, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, with some brown rice.

Kath, there is also a VERSALES in Indiana not too far across the border from you. If Lauren likes tomato basil soup you might try the V-8 brand from the grocery. It comes in a box and is thick and delicious. I also use it for sauce when I make porcupines. Good stuff!! Everybody's dinner sounds so good! How did your peppers turn out, Ron? They sounded really good to me since I put green peppers in my baked beans anyway. Nodakgal, I haven't mashed potatoes since I discovered those Country Crocks. I sure couldn't tell they weren't homemade. I'll have to pull this post up on days I just don't know what the heck to make. We like breakfast for dinner, too. But I'll just let Harry scroll down and pick a meal :-)

Hi, Jim, Wonderful you joined us! @Diane Brakefield Sorry I missed your comments above. I’ve been a little tired & skim reading some posts. I love looking at everyones posts daily, but wiped out now. However, I just caught your post about the Huntington Gardens. It’s been many years but I used to live in LA & visited them & the Japanese Gardens, often! I remember them well! They have the largest Kwanzan trees ever-that’s what inspired me to have a Kwanzan in my gardens. Interested who the curator of the garden’s is now!!! We just love his taste in roses!!! Wishing everyone a more Healthy Holiday Season!

I went out for lunch today with a group called the lunch bunch and we went to med grill and awesome food it was, we all so enjoyed the meals we had plus the chatting that went on.

I had the steak sandwich, delicious and done just like I like it plus mushrooms all over and onions and then two slices garlic bread with aioli on it, yummy and fries, ice tea to drink.

Others had thai shrimp, salads, halibut fish, pork chop,etc. and they all looked great meals and everyone enjoyed them despite too much food there was.

So for supper full from lunch out, so just had bowl of porridge.

Had Mexican train tonight so I just heated up a slice of quiche and left the Chinese from last night for DH.

We had chicken salad with toasted almonds and mandrin oranges. Rolled it up in flour tortillas with some Romaine.

Say, where has Mary of the shells gone? She'd fix great sounding meals for her husband, but wouldn't eat anything but "shells ", it seemed.

Haven't seen her post in a long time.

We had Emi and Josh over for Ruben sandwiches and salad. Then Gary and I had a piece of Apple Crisp with Cinnamon ice cream right before we went to bed :-)

It's been a busy week for us & I worked late Tues, Wed & Thurs. DH cooked dinner last night - crab ravioli with butternut squash sauce. I need to find time this weekend to put something in the crock pot or do a pressure cooker meal that we can warm up. Next week is month end in the world of billing/accounting, so it's always a super busy time for me. It's also my company's year end, so we'll be really under pressure.

Dry rub, grilled pork chops and baked potato. No veggies! Oops. Let's just say the cupboard is getting mighty slim since it's the end of the month is approching. I only shop once a month and it's time! I used all of the veggies the night before in the soup I made. Which will be dinner again tonight. Then the grocery store, tomorrow morning.
