A small kitten was seen being abused. It was picked up and the teenagers seen kicking it ran off. It was taken to a animal rescue group ,who had recently opened a huge reuse store, and animal care facility. They reported the boys had also abused the kitten, with acid being put in its eyes and mouth. It was on all of the news channels and papers in the area. People were outraged and a large fund set up for the care of the kitty, and "education" of the teens, because animal abuse often leads to other abuse. Sad to say the kitty died, after being treated through the weekend.

Now the kicker. Except for the kitty being sick and dying, it was all a lie! Everyone is just livid, and I hope there is a way to prosecute the people running the clinic. The police spent hours interviewing people, trying to find the teens. We have been watching them remodel the old grocery store, that they convereted to their use. The first days after opening, they had huge crowds. We are animal lovers and planned to check it out this week, but if this bunch all knew of this false report and then made the accusations, I'll have nothing to do with it. The local humane society vets looked at it before it died, and said it was an upper respritory infection from the start, but no one wanted to believe they had lied at the rescue group. Sorry to vent, but I just wanted little Raisin, remembered.

People wonder why I get so annoyed with people who blindly forward hoax emails and this is a perfect example of why. Lies compound and things get ridiculously out of hand.

Hi Jane, Oh yes, what a mess it was! Oh no, not to worry, don't feel bad Jane. It's really my own fault. Even if I didn't get a response on this forum yet, I'm sure I would have used the first recipe anyway. From what you said, I used a ton more veggie oil than I should have and should have known better then to use soooo much. I used 1 cup in a spay bottle, mixed with 2 c of water, some dish soap and I threw in a decent gulp of rubbing alcohol, then shook it up real good. The bottle had to be constantly shaken while spraying because the oil kept separating. It was a very DUMB move on my part! I then hung the plants down in the basement (no carpet) so they had a place to drip and they did, just s little. Anyway, everything is all better know, plants are washed down, and the sprayer, well, that took a little more cleaning but, it's clean. I don't think anything on the plants survived all that oil. It was like the gulf oil spill and the valdez all over again in my sink! lol. First oil mix attemp... Live and learn! Billy Rae

Back to the topic of contaminants from waste wood: In my state (MO) most if not all of the mulching and composting operations are exempted from obtaining a permit for processing/disposing of solid waste since they are turning waste into a product. Technically they should get an official Permit Exemption letter from the state, but only some of them do. The exemption states that they are not supposed to use treated, painted etc. wood. However, since they are exempt from permitting, there is no inspection process as there is with permitted facilities. Some of the larger composting operations, especially those composting food scrap, are required to get permits so the state can help control odor issues, etc. That gives the inspectors an opportunity to at least see the operation. The person I talked to also said they know of no federal regulations on mulch. Your state may vary, but there is certainly a possibility that all kinds of stuff *could* be used to make mulch and it would be hard to detect by looking. As always, buyer beware. Schoolhouse - lol. Yes, it is a challenge on one's own, and Kathy, I love that remark - I agree!!! And of course the cute younger men are scared of cougars!! Seriously, though - I understand about not wanting to wait for someone to come, take the mower, fix it on their schedule, and then return it on that same schedule. I tried repairing my own gas mower, but wasn't that good at it. ;-)) You could put an old blanket over the access to the trunk, then use the ramps to get it up there and in. That way you don't have to be too careful wedging it in.... With this recession, and people not having jobs, I am waiting for the return of the door-to-door repair guys. Remember the ones who came around ringing a bell, and would sharpen all of your knives and scissors?? In my Aunt and Uncle's snowbird park in Florida, a Cuban man came around in an old pickup with vegetables that he had grown, selling them. It's hard to even get kids today to cut grass or shovel snow for $20!!! That's just crazy. I talk to people every day, and many are unemployed. Some have just been laid off as I call!! I had one woman rip me a new one cause her hubby had been unemployed for 5 years!! I'm sorry, that's just lazy, not unemployed. People need to realize they're not in line for the corner office anymore - time to get out there and make some money. Sorry, what was the topic again?? Nancy.

I don't see any crazy here ;) Radical? Why? Because we won't be led like sheep into our graves? Decisions made by WHO(M) for us, whether we like it or not? It is all MARKETING. The big vaccine hoopla - the meds - it is to make money for the STOCKHOLDERS ONLY. Be it by commercials on tv, or ads you see EVERYWHERE! MONEY MONEY to be made. To pay off the FDA, the AMA, etc. Trust me. Bush never required the gmo people to test before allowing. Neither is this president. So guess who is the guinea pig? YOU! guess what HIS family eats? ORGANIC. Just like mine. Gmo is in ALL corn *and corn is fed to cattle to make them fat! Soy. Unless it is organically grown and fermented just pass it up. CANOLA - who in their right mind would even touch this one? Soon to be rice - cotton - etc. There is NO stopping it. Problems are being seen and they are being hushed. We can NOT travel by air without molestation. We MUST obey to take a vaccine due to Health care? what? what if we are allergic? What if we give the disease now to someone else since we have been injected with it? Soon all of our rights will be taken, or so it seems. Be careful out there. Yes, Thank you chem curl it was about Raisin. Cynic, did you bother to check the story? People know why a lot of us get annoyed, when spmeone accuses or intimates people of things they have no knowledge about. I am really surprised it was you Cynic, as you usally are on top of things.

Will there be any charges brought against those vile lying people?

That's just horrible. My blood pressure began to rise as I started reading what was done to the kitten. How can someone even come up with something like that?

Nothing gets me more riled and upset, than any kind of animal abuse.

There was a story all over the place here in ON recently where a young girl made up a story that she had cancer. She shaved her head and plucked her eyebrows, went on a diet to lose weight and was pale, to make her story believable.

She was sent money and had a bunch of people on Facebook etc, send her well wishes. It was all a hoax for the money and publicity. She's certainly well-known now, with the media reporting her scam.

So the truth is a kitten died but no teenagers were involved with torturing it. I hate when kids are gven a bad rap. Mostly all of them are good. My young neighbor has been helping with me with my vegetable garden. I give him a few tomatoes and flowers to take to his mom, he won't accept any money. When I was a teen, I read books to an old lady in our neighborhood. Only she and my parents knew about it.
