Good-bye Summer Welcome Fall

Today is the last day of summer. We had a wonderful downpour around 3 this afternoon bringing our temp down to about 68. Sunday we had another one. That is good news for NE TX.

Got my orange flowers out in the pots on my front porch and a couple of wreaths too . This is my favorite time of the year.

Thank you, Krista, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I suppose the tea roses might be a bit too tender for your area. Elemire, I also thought that Leonie's Apoline should make a good cut flower and I'll test it on the next bloom. Masha, I think you could keep Mrs. Dudley to a reasonable size; it just won't have as many flowers. The teas range from two years to seven months (the rose closest to the camera is the youngest), so they still have quite a bit of growing to do. I just hope I've allowed enough room. Ingrid

lol,Bustopher, we're still in Hawaii zone right now in Kansas City! whaddya mean Bon Voyage, haha! I'm not expecting to say Bon Voyage until December... We're too warm over here and my roses and your roses ain't nowhere done yet! But hilarious post anyway, we are enjoying your "Opening Night" performance (versus Finale), lol! Plus the great pics! My favorite is O'Rilla and Sunsation. Next year I'm getting Royal Dane which should resemble Sunsation (it's also an orange/yellow bicolor)

Nice to hear from you, Bonnie. I am sorry to hear your Dad's in now in Hospice, tho I know he will get good care there and perhaps ease some stress from you. Its so hard to see this happen, I know. that is the beauty of living in FL! it may suck from June thru Aug (thou this yr was quite nice running normal temps + lots of rain) and few veggies or fruit will grow (usually too high night time temps prevent fruit formation) but we are putting in our fall-winter tomatoes & garden now. I ALWAYS love to tell the "keep it local" crowd to enjoy their garden in Dec & Jan LOL ;-)) We have truely become a very spoiled nation when we can access fresh fruits & veggies from around the world, out of season in this country. If you can find Tastee tomatoes they are a newer FL mass production variety that has a better shelf taste. FYI you might be interested & quite shocked by the tomato industry in FL down in Naples...a good book on modern day tomato industry is out too. ~ liz

We have 2 freezes and now back to the 70's for about a week or until we see the weather report tomarrow. Also almost an inch of rain. But tomarrow is another day!

I saw a few colors while I was in Oklahoma and Arkansas, but all Texas has is brown burnt shrubs, trees, & flowers.

It's hot here and rained 2 inches last night,. My ACs are gone for the winter maybe prematurely. It feels like July. I did decorate for the season today.

So many places are so far behind in rainfall it'll take a long time to catch up. Hopefully there'll be frequent rains to help out the trees, fire dangers and such.

Sad about the droughts . PA now is officially in the wettest year in history passing 1972. In the past two hours we have easily gotten an inch or two more, and we only were one inch to go to tie the record. And we have three months to go.
