Thanks for the support! They were about 150 starts in total. All about 3 inches tall, not small. I had hardened them off for about a week. Starting a few hours a day leading up to full days. We had 4 nights ranging from 26-28. The first night caught me by surprise so they were not covered. The last 3 I cover with mostly clear poly that I had saved up. Some may come back but that is like 10%. Leaves have a white look and they look limp. I thought the kale would have made it for sure... Time to start over!

It is spring, isn't it? I woke up to find I had to scrape the car windows this morning to go to the nursery for our rose society meeting. It did THAT WORD last night! I wouldn't worry about the roses. 40 may slow them down a bit but it shouldn't do any damage. I haven't moved any of mine to shelter and we've been down in the low 30s a couple of nights. I did some more pruning this afternoon and they all looked fine.

Check your county's weather to get details of your area's weather challenges for today and tonight. So far, I've seen high wind advisories, high wind warnings, Red Flag Fire Warnings in a small number of counties in SW OK and even freeze warnings in the Panhandle counties. Wind today will be high in many areas and gusting in the 50s and 60s in some areas, which will heighten fire danger in those areas. Cold temperatures tonight will bring the threat of freezing or near-freezing conditions. Protect your tender vegetation accordingly if these are forecast for your area. You can check your county's specific watches, warnings and advisories by clicking on your county on the county maps on any of the NWS webpages (Norman, Tulsa, Amarillo). Remember that in these high winds, any fires that start will spread rapidly, even if you are not in a Red Flag Fire Warning area. After we make it through today's windy weather, tomorrow should be a really nice weather day. Dawn Here is a link that might be useful: Enhanced Webpage of Norman office of NWS

DD and I covered the newly-transplanted strawberries, the baby kale and the peas that are just starting to sprout. Brought in the potted blueberries that we just bought. Covered as many of the blossoming wild strawberries (and my 1 alpine) as we had burlap for. I don't think it froze last night - in fact, at 7am there was not the heavy frost there had been a couple of nights ago. But we're not out of the woods yet - tomorrow AM and Monday AM lows are going to be right around freezing. I really want to start some spinach and lettuce, spring onions and radishes, but I don't know whether they're going to freeze or if the weather's going to be too warm for them (72 predicted for Thurs)! Strange weather indeed.
