I love Costco for our regular items such as kitty litter, toilet paper....either the Kirkland brand or Cascades when they have a $4 coupon. I also buy our quinoa there and the basket coffee filters.
When I was looking for the sheet protectors for my recipe binders, their price couldn't be beat. 2 pkg of 100 protectors for $9.99.

I dropped my membership in Sam's Club a few years ago when they stopped offering group memberships.

A Costco was built near me a few years ago and although it is in another town, it is a town I have to go to frequently for doctors, etc. Therefore, I purchased a Costco membership. So far have not regretted it at all. Their Kirkland brand of products is very good. The price for their butter and bacon and dog food and rotisserie chicken and cheeses and meat (you get the point, LOL) cannot be beat.

Costco already sends out those brochures (some of the items featured in that circular don't require a coupon).

Does the credit card your Sam's account is linked to give you extra mileage points or any other perk for using the card at Sam's?

Costco's annual membership fee isn't cheap -- for just 2 or 3 visits it wouldn't be worth it for me, either. But like Jasdip, there are certain products I like better there, like their Kirkland brand tuna, their cashews, rotisserie chicken... I never get out of there with "just" the tuna I went in for!

Marie: Do you do Twitter? There have been a few financial situations like this that people have posted criticisms of on that social network, and it built up such steam that the companies dropped their plans to raise fees or whatever they had in mind. You should try doing that!

Reason I don't go it distance--around 150 miles each way and I can do almost as good at local Walmart and Target. When I had to go to take DH to the medical center that is when I went, especially for gas, but now he is gone so no reason to go that medical center. Not worth the drive to save a few pennies with coupons. Wish they had a Costco closer than Regina.

When I lived in CA, I belonged to Costco for many years. Now that I am in Iowa, Costco is 30 miles away so I don't belong. There is a Sam's Club in my town but I have not joined.

Love my Costco American Express. Costco membership is $55.00 a year. I get a cash bonus every year on their AX card. I use it for almost everything (pay it off every two weeks on payday). My cash bonus this summer was $178.00. More than worth the cost of membership.

I have gone to CostCo forever, since it was Price Club remember that?? There are only the 2 of us, my DH goes once a month more if we have a family dinner~~when the kids were at home I went weekly.

We used to have Sam's in Canada, then they closed their Canadian stores. Of the two, we preferred Sam's over Costco.

We switched from Sam's to Costco a few years ago when we moved to a different part of the city. I FAR prefer Costco for everything, but am like a kid in the candy store in their produce aisles.

We go at least once a month and eat much better (healthier) because of it. I agree that the Kirkland brands are excellant.

Lexington is getting a Costco! I'm thinking of joining even though it will soon just be me at home.

I only went to Costco once.I had -yeah you guessed It-a "coupon" for a free visit. I saw a lot of products in giant size packages I know I would never use up. I figure you can do as well by using regular newspaper coupons,and taking advantage of store sales.

My family is very appreciative of Costco. Since packaging is in large quantity, what we do is split the cost and equally divide the products between us. That way storage is easy to do and we all benefit from the savings.

We went to Costco last nite and took our neighbour. He loves getting the ginormous muffins and we both buy the kitty litter.

For the first time that we've ever noticed, they were out of kitty litter. So we'll go again, sometime in the near future.

We have a Costco locally ... but as I'm an old guy, who doesn't buy much, I figure that their deal wouldn't be of much use to me, especially since much of their goods is large sized stuff.

When I was young, we felt that we were doing a store a favour by darkening their door - and when they tell me that I HAVE TO PAY THEM FOR THE PRIVILEGE ...

... I tell them that I don't think so!
