What's for dinner 9/14?

We're having tuna casserole (the kind with potato chips on top) and Italian bread and butter. I crave tuna casserole every once in a while and today was the day :-) Besides that it takes 5 minutes to put together.

What's yummy on your menu?

Yummmmm! I wish I was eating at your house Patti!! I LOVE tuna casserole!! I haven't made it in years because fussybutt person that lives here won't touch it! Grrrrr

We are having pork chops, stuffing, wild rice, some sort of veggie yet to be determined and applesauce. Still have some fresh veggies on a tray to finish up with ranch dressing too.

Miss Myra's bbq, today, for my dinner for lunch out per usual.

Had a serving of her smoked chicken salad and crackers.

Good morning from waiting SE Texas! It's 82 and mostly cloudy so far. It took forever for me to fall into a good sleep last night, so I slept in late. Woke up to hearing hubby outside the bedroom window running tape on them. Coffee and computer, then breathing treatment, then getting dressed for whatever this day may bring! I received the most comforting prayer from a 'net friend when I got up today. It just relaxed me to my toes when I read it. Isn't it strange that we each possess the ability to alter another person's way of feeling by a few chosen words? Dee, TGIF! What did you think of BB last night? All regular shows were pre-empted here for weather news, of course, but I stayed up to watch the beginning of BBAD and figured out very quickly that somebody left (YEA!) and my faves stayed. THank goodness for modern technology so that I can keep up when need be. It looks like Ike made another little change during the night and he's not weakening as I'd heard before bedtime. We're in as good a shape as we can be, so I'm confident that we'll be safe. Yes, I wish we had plywood on the windows, but we don't - this time! We have plenty of food, water, cooking methods (propane grill and Coleman stove), flashlights, fresh batteries, candles and matches, and I can't think what else right now. It's having so much time to prepare that's a blessing and a curse though. I keep thinking we're ready, then I think of something else to be done. If and when we lose power, know that I'm here in spirit because y'all are very special to me. Post interesting things so that when I do check in, I'll have good things to read! Have a great weekend!

Jasdip--those bottles sure are deceptive. We were celebrating our anniversary a few years back at the resort we spent our honeymoon. We stopped and got a bottle of wine and decided we'd better get a corkscrew. Like you, I wrangled that pesky sleeve off and saw it was a screw lid. Forgot to take the corkscrew back to the store on our way home, so now we have two exactly the same. It was pretty good wine, too, considering it wasn't corked. But then, I'm no wine connesieur. (I'm pretty sure I messed up that spelling.) Jel48, we used to eat out about that often when we were working and after we retired and moved to the boonies, there wasn't anyplace you'd want to go to very often, so I got used to cooking at home. Now I prefer it. Good for you, Lydia. Easy and delicious--what more could you want? Ravencajun--darn it, I ate that tenderloin like I hadn't eaten in a year. Man, it was so good. I think I'd have to buy two seats on the plane to get to TX tonight. Hope you enjoyed it!

Reporting back as per Alisande's request. I liked the salad but my husband did not. He thought there was a bitterness to it, I didn't think so. Anyway, I only keep new recipes if we both like them. The salad had napa cabbage, sugar snap peas, scallions, grated carrots and baby spinach. Dressing was sesame oil, olive oil, shredded ginger, diced garlic and soy sauce. Toasted almond are tossed in as well. On a bright note, the cooked shrimp I bought were excellent, though expensive!

..Asking me for a recipe isn't usually something I can help with. But I'll try! And I know that I said orzo but I MEANT coucous! But it sure would work with orzo. Fix 1 cup coucous and 1/2 cup red quinoi according to the directions on their labels. Be sure to rinse the quinoa first, and I prefer the red....it tastes nuttier to me. I cook both of them in chicken broth. This salad can be made just with quinoi, but I didn't want to scare my guests. :-) Veggies....to equal about two cups or more : chopped green onions, red bell pepper, english cuke, chick peas (rinsed and drained), halved cherry tomatoes. Use your favorite vinaigrette . I made a lemon dressing with quarter cup fresh lemon juice, quarter cup olive oil, two cloves minced garlic, chopped fresh oregano, sugar, S & P to taste, and a splash of balsamic or other vineger. I didn't use all of the dressing. Add it to the couscous and quinoi while still warm, cover, and chill. When ready to serve, stir and taste to add more dressing if necessary. I added a bit of lemon zest on top for serving and fresh mint from the garden .

My brother invited us to eat boiled crabs at his house!!! OMG, he knows how much I LOVE crabs, and well, he wuvs me--lol.

I made a tuna casserole for the first time in years, about a month ago. We really liked it!

Hubby is out, teaching drums. So I had sausage in a bun, and the rest of the scalloped potatoes. He won't eat sausage in a bun, so it's my chance to have something just for me, when he's not here.

I have a couple pork chops in gravy baking in the oven, potatoes are peeled and ready to boil for mashing, we'll have broccoli & sliced tomatoes with them.

Gosh, all your dinners sound so good. Come on over, Nodakgal. If I'm over at Glenda's eating smoked chicken salad, just take the casserole out of the oven and bring it over to her house. Oops, I just invited company to Glenda's ;0

Glenda, yes I use a can of mixed peas and carrots, lots of cheese and lots of crushed chips on top.

Nodakgal, do they grow wild rice in your area? I remember going up to our Minnesota office and restaurants always had it on the menu. I had a wild rice soup one time that was memorable!!

Pintos and ham...been in the crock pot all day..from last nights ham bone..

Sides will be biscuits and cabbage...

Tomorrow will be the pintos smashed in fried corn tortillas..or enchiladas...

Nope Minnesota grows wild rice, not us in ND though.
I love wild rice in anything or with anything!Soups,casseroles,as a side, anyway.
Another thing Mr Fussybutt doesn't like. sheesh what is wrong with him!

They had a wiener roast at the Home where my special needs sister lives. You had your choice of doing your own or letting others do it. I'm glad they do things like this for the residents and their families. Hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, and smores. They even had door prizes, and guess the weight of a pumpkin....I was only 1/2 lb off. The weather cooperated, and a good time was had by all.

Mike is going to do pork chops on the grill. I will make up a package of noodle something and a veggie...oh and of course applesauce.

I made a crustless quiche. Bacon,fried rice & cheese.

Never had a tuna casserole with Potato chips on top......:0) Or potato chips on a sandwich. :0)

I fixed fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, candied sweet potatoes, coleslaw, apple pie, cinnamon rolls and home made yeast rolls. Everyone was full. I had iced tea to drink.
