What;s for dinner 9/21?

We're having sausage sandwiches with sauteed green peppers and onions and Bush's baked beans. Kind of blah--but it's been that kinda' day!

I love smoked sausage fixed with sweet peppers and onions and then topped with spaghetti sauce on a sandwich. For me just a diet drink tonight, at least it was chocolate!

That sounds good Patti!
Hubby is out teaching drums and won't be home till after 8pm.
So I just made some pasta for myself. He'll want something light when he comes home, so I can heat him the sausage and quinoa leftovers from yesterday. Just enough for 1 serving anyway, and I saved it for him.

I didn't see your second post, GL. I dunno, your cold soup could have been considered a side....it'll be officially summer, so I'm banking on hot and sunny weather. How about a sweet and a savory? I think some gazpacho would go well with the taco dip. We've been playing with different recipes and liked this one pretty well: * Exported from MasterCook * Gazpacho De Los Angeles Recipe By : Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Soups Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 46 ounce Canned tomato juice 1/2 teaspoon Minced garlic 1 Green bell pepper -- minced 1 tablespoon Olive oil 1 Small onion -- minced 1 tablespoon Chopped chives 1 Cucumber -- peeled & minced 2 Drops hot pepper sauce 2 Canned green chiles -- minced 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Salt -- white pepper 1 teaspoon Seasoning blend Lemon wedges Combine tomato juice, green pepper, onion, cucumber, chiles, Worcestershire, seasoning blend, garlic, olive oil, chives and hot pepper sauce. Season to taste with MSG, salt and white pepper. Chill thoroughly. Serve with lemon wedges. Note: For smooth gazpacho served with vegetable garnishes, blend tomato mixture in blender container until smooth. Serve with additional diced cucumber, green pepper and croutons on side. Shambo, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I know he had some health issues and you were cooking low salt and healthy meals for him. I'm sending hugs and strong thoughts and prayers to your and your family. Jack, we are kindred spirits, I swear. When I make twice baked potatoes I'll make a whole sheet pan full of them, mine usually just has cheese, butter and sour cream, occasionally I'll add bacon. I freeze them and then package them usually two per package, Mother loves them and they're easy to heat up. Of course someone is always digging through my freezer to see if I have any, all of the grandkids and the kids love them and they make a fast and easy supper. Jasdip, as you know, I love potatoes in just about any form, so being able to grab a package quickly is a luxury. They are quite durable too, LOL. Neely, I have a pile of butternut squash in storage, if only I had a pile of prawns too! sleevendog, that looks pretty to me! Delicious too. No pictures here, today we had hamburgers! Tomorrow we're making sandwiches and having cake and ice cream for Madison's 9th birthday. No party this year, of course, but we bought her a hoverboard, so she'll be happy, even with just her folks and Elery and I. I baked a strawberry cake too, with sea turtles on top, her choice. Thank you all! the dinner was wonderful fun, the conversation flowed wonderfully and everyone got a chance to have a real conversation with everyone else. DS2 served and the food was very well received, with Golf Buddy asking for seconds and after we had retired to the living room for after dinner drinks and more conversation he asked it he could have another tiny plate! He is a very trim indiviidual who apparently eats a lot of airline food in his work and actually raved about everything., which was unexpected and very nice! I have just a few pictures of the food, did not get one of a filled dinner plate as we were trying to get it out in as warm a state as possible. Here is the trifle: And the cheese tray Crackers were in a long basket made for that purpose.. I think i have a picture of the rolls on my ipad; sometimes with our slower wifi the pictures do not sync to other devices without a little time. After everyone left DS2 and Nephew hand washed everything and dried and I put away. the kitchen is spotless and the table empty of everything except Big Foo and flowers. They were so helpful and I was very appreciative. Nephew is moving to DC in a couple of weeks after a family beach trip so we won’t see him again until Thanksgiving. DS left early this morning and i cant wait to get the full account of his day playing a prisoner, which is filmed in an actual prison!

I've always loved this photo. Such a handsome young man offering samples of smoked salmon at a market in Bergen, Norway. I wish Houzz wouldn't reduce picture size so much but you can see better if you click on it.

Mmmmm Patti it sounds good to me! I haven't made those for awhile, and now I am going to have to do so!

We are having chicken and dumplings and some veggie. Haven't looked to see what I have yet.

Your supper sounds good to me, Patti. In fact, I wish I'd thought of it.:)

We're having cowboy cut, rib-in, rib eye steaks with a mixed green salad and baked potatoes that DH cooks in the infrared cooker. DH has requested the rib eyes pan fried tonight. For some reason, those particular steaks are tastier cooked that way than they are on the grill.

I'm not doing the cooking tonight but we're having whole deep fried clams, fried scallops, boiled shrimps onion rings cole slaw, applesauce and beer.

I think Ill store buy and take a Boston cream pie for desert.

I ate my evening meal with an Amish family tonight.

Menu: Barbecue chicken
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Homemade noodles
Creamed peas
Salad (it's a combo of regular salad on top of cole slaw)
Homemade rolls with homemade jams

Desserts: Raisin pie
lemon pie (my choice)
berry pie
chocolate pie
angel food cake w/blueberry topping

Drinks: Coffee, tea or water

I'd better not fall down as I think I'd just roll around on the floor.

Shirley, it sounds like you ate at Sue's house! LOL!

Gayle, I wish we had a take-out restaurant nearby that had that. I'd probably eat in/out a lot! I needed a reminder about steaks. I bought a bunch when they were on sale a while back.

Still to hot for chicken and dumplings but it sure sounds good. Ah, well. It'll be cold enough pretty soon.

I would like to go with Lil, especially if she took Boston cream pie.

I straightened out our freezer today and made a vow not to buy any more meat until I've used up a lot of what I already have. I could probably start a mini-meat market :0

Patti: If Sue lived as close as this Amish place is (10 minutes away), I'd see what I could do about getting invited often. lol Unfortunately, I think she's about 300 miles from me.

We had company tonight, so I made lasagna, home made rolls, salad and apple pie. It took some organizing because I work until 4:30, but it always works out.

My god, all that work and company on a Tues nite? My hat's off to you! (Can hubby and I come next Tues?) Hahahahaaaa!

On the weekend my neighbour brought over some little pie crusts she had made. They fit perfectly into a little meat-pie tin foil dish.
So I just took 2 little apple pies out of the oven. Mmmmm can't wait till they cool off.
