Rain, rain and more rain

It has been raining non-stop today. So far we have about 8" of rain. Lots of flooding going on around here. My kids' school dismissed the kids early and I went and picked them up. I was very nervous to go drive, but I found safe routes. We are suppose to get rain until Sunday. I am so ready for some sunshine!

I hope it stops raining there and starts raining here. Always one extreme or the other, isn't it? We've been very dry lately, grass turning brown. I just picked up Lauren and her friend and it was sprinkling, but no major rain. I guess I'll have to go water the garden.

I am with kathsgrdn, please send your excess rain to the middle of KY. I need it more than she did, we had .28" since the 28th of July. Sorry, Kath, I just got in from watering my garden, since the rain is north again! The weather report said we will most likely not get much rain from Ike either.

Actually the 12 inches of water was just on the ground in my garden--The official rain gauge in my community registered 14 plus inches. The burger King 3 blocks from me had water up past the bottoms of their windows, and the town had LOTS of cars under water, and WAY too many houses had water inside. Spring Hill is about 11-12 hours south of me-I have friends that live there too. Thanks for the concern....

Haven't been on for a while but wanted to see how everyone was doing after the big deluge. Anyone heard from I think Gloria? I seem to recall she lives in Longmont. I hadn't realized how bad it was until I was coming home from work last Thursday evening from Denver and saw the St. Vrain looking like a mini Niagara falls! running barely under I-25. Fortunately for us, we're on higher ground and they evacuated folks in low lying areas to the Mead HS and a church on Rt.66. The St. Vrain is still running high and heaps of streets East of us are still closed. I hope everyone is safe and not severely impacted and hope to see some of you at the swap which i see hasn't yet happened so I am hoping this time to make it since I always seem to miss the Fall swap and I am certain I have some plants to share. Here's a bit of a laugh and smile in all the gloom, the fella and I found this large toad that must have gotten disoriented during the deluge and fell into our window well we think....we haven't a clue how long it's been there but from the looks of it, he's doing pretty good feasting on all the crickets down there. We took him over about a half mile to a "swampy" area and hopefully he'd be happier there!

As long as the rainwater is draining; not a problem. If there is pools of water, then there would be a concern. Here we have had a cold spring but the cabbage, lettuce and other cool crops are doing fine . . .slowly but fine

Well, lucky you, Glenda! As Carol said, we got a little dribble from Mother Nature the other day, but nothing much. Sure hope we get some more this winter. We need it, our trees and shrubs need it.

Our lake is low, so we could use the rain. Unfortunately, we may get more than we wish for from Ike! I hope you don't experience flooding, and the rain stops there soon, Jewels.

I'm sick of it too. It is supposed to stop tomorrow late morning. Just in time to go to the cabin for a day or two. We'll probably stay until Monday around noon. We have Red Hat's Monday night.
