Rain, Rain, and More Rain

Manday

I put out lettuce and onions on 3/17 and they were coming in wonderfully. I also put out potatoes which have just been exploding, even with almost no sun. I have carrots, turnips, and beets as well, so far.

My question is this: should I be worried about all the rain and almost no sun? My lettuce seems to have stopped growing and I am concerned that the root-types (potatoes, carrots, onions, and beets) will rot from all the moisture.

A little background: I have concrete block raised beds with the potato and carrots being 2 blocks high. I used compost, peat and vermiculite with roughly 1/3 each except for the lettuce and onion box which doesn't have vermiculite (I hadn't found any at that point).

Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do (cover them to keep some of the rain away) or should I just watch and wait?

This is my first year so I know next to nothing. Thanks!
