Caring friends brought me lunch, today! :o)

Had rotisserie chipolte mole chicken (Publix)

Homemade cornbread dressing

fresh off the cob creamed corn

yummy baby carrots in some kind of dressing

Most unusual tossed salad: iceberg, spinach, olives, sliced purple grapes, broccoli, sliced tomatoes. Must say it was tasty!

Tomorrow lunch being brought by two other friends.

Feel truly blessed.

Glenda, glad to hear your friends are keeping you nourished!
I had lunch out with Hubby today. Took him to a place I used to go as a child on the mainland. He liked it.
He had an open faced chili burger and I had chili cheese fries.

hi everyone we finaly got some much needed rain and my brugs really needed it i have isabellla and frosty pink blooming they are about five feet tall i really want a red one Trish my husband mailed your box wensday i hope you like it it has been so hot it was hard to send plants i hope they arrive safe today i took my grandson to see monster house for his 7th birthday and found a real good deal at payless shoes 20.00 shoes for 5.oo that was a deal got his hair cut for school and everyone be careful checking emails from wireless phone we have someone stole my name and ordered phone and sent them to Maryland and luckly my network sent me text mess to say my account password had been changed and i called and asked what was going on and some one fauded my account what a bummer i had to put fraud allert on my credit and it feels weird to see how easly they did it well i hope everyone has a nice evening stay cool patty

Sorry I butchered her name, it's MARION Burros, cookbook author, and here's the recipe: Summer Torte by Marion Burros Originally posted by Jojoco, such a great cook! 1 stick butter, softened (I always use unsalted) 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup flour; sifted 1 tsp baking powder 2 eggs pinch of salt fruit of choice; sliced into wedges (I used about 7 plums. Peaches, nectarines,strawberries all work great and in combination) cinnamon sugar for top Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and add sugar. Beat well. Add eggs and beat. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to batter. Mix. Spoon globs to greased 9 or 10 inch springform. Use a knife to spread batter to cover entire pan. Arrange fruit on top. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (amount depends on the sweetness of the fruit). Bake for 45 min. I must admit that I like to top it with streusel in addition to the fruit, or at the very least some of those big sugar crystals (I use "Sugar in the Raw" for this).

On my birthday one year, I had an Almond Joy martini. It was the first martinit I ever had. It was soooooooooooo good! I've tried to duplicate it, haven't yet! I've also had some sort of pear martini which was also very good. I tried the appletini, don't care for sour apple, so didn't care for this one. I'll keep trying to reproduce that Almond Joy one though. I remember it was clear liquid, because the glass had chocolate syrup swirled all around on it. I'm having trouble making a clear one. LOL.

Glenda, and the pretty one on the left. You are one stylish lady. Know you are a great friend to all of your friends. Yes, isn't Merle Norman make up wonderful. I was first introduced to it in 1960 and never stopped using it. May have tried some others, but is always the one I go back to. I am very fair skinned and its hard to find makeup that is light enough for my skin. Merle Norman works perfect for me. Know you had a wonderful day with your friends.

In spite of a few bumps in the road occasionally, you sure lead the Good Life. You are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends to bring you such goodies.

When are you supposed to go to the Biltmore, or have you already been, and I just missed it?

I HAD sent in my $150 deposit for the Biltmore trip. Talked with gal, today, and she'll shred the check, but if I feel healed, which I hope I will be, then I can call her at the last minute and join the trip/

That's good to know. I know this trip is with friends, but when you mentioned going in Nov, my first thought was that spring or summer would be a much prettier time to go and enjoy the gardens...which would be of the greatest interest to me.
