Yard sales this week

It was very dismal this week. There were some sales but they weren't worth the gas it took to get to them. I managed to find only one, which I almost missed, that made my outing worth it. Picked up a Pampered Chef stoneware loaf pan, a PC pepper grinder, a big PC spatula (for the grill), PC cheese knife and a few other odds and ends for next to nothing.

I don't expect to see many more sales advertised this year. Oh well, there is always Goodwill. The prices are good there but not as good as yard sale prices. And they don't have as good a selection of kids clothes or toys but they have a better selection of cookbooks, clothes for me, and shoes.

I scored big time this afternoon! A friend left me a message about a sale she had been to yesterday, and I didn't get it until this morning. Luckily they were open today. I got $55 worth of basket weaving supplies and could have gotten about $300 more. Nice new reed still in the original coils for $3 LESS than retail, handles for a dollar. I was in heaven. Just wish I had more money. I could have made her an offer if I had enough. I wouldn't insult her by offering what I had available today, tho. We both knew what her stuff was worth, and she had reasonable prices. She gave me her number if I decide I want the rest!

I answered a free CL add. Got about 500 hen & chick plants! :0) I have a little hill that is now planted edge to edge in hen & chicks!!! Then did an iris tuber trade with a lady in TN. I got 5 miniature white iris's, traded my dark purple minature iris.

I've seen plants offered @ garage sales...but I like FREE better!!!

All of it looks great to me, the little squirrel peeking out on the deck,"She sell seashells" sign & shells around. The blues work so well with the coral & pinks & white. Little guy by pool looks like a sweetie! Grandma doesn't like the attention! She does match beautifully in the pic where she is sitting in the chair, her shirt looks great with the empty blue chair, blues go together well! Funny thing is that I checked this post this morning and read it and decided to hit a town's city wide sales. Normally I garage sale every weekend but this year haven't gone to any yet. I usually try and buy all the kids clothes for the next year at garage sales during the summer. Well got to the town and there were only 15 sales, but I hit the mother lode. I went to one that had tons of clothes for my oldest, filled 4 walmart sacks full for under 20 bucks and for my oldest son filled 5 bags for him. I got shoes, jammies, shirts, slacks, jeans, sweaters, sweats and everything they need for the year. The other 2 get their hand me downs so for 50 bucks outfitted the family for the next year:) Stacie

DH and I were yard-saling today and found a sale with two shoeboxes full of shot glasses ... perfect size for (Garden Junk) plate-flower centers I think! (this is a craft that girlfriends and I are planning for next spring). They were selling for 25-cents each and I was counting out 12 of them so we'd each have four. DH was talking to one of the ladies hosting the sale and she mentioned they were raising $$ for medical expenses for their friend fighting lymphoma. I heard that and asked whether it was the result of breast cancer and yes ... it was. I'm a BC survivor, so I went over to talk to the girl and that's just what she was ... maybe 27 or 28 years old MAXIMUM. She's in the middle of her chemo treatments and doing well, the prognosis is good. DH bought all the shot glasses, I think there's 30 of them ... and gave them $40 to go toward her treatments. She cried, they all hugged him, he got so embarassed. It was a good day.

I love a good sale Paula!!

We have had very few up here....the big city wides are next Saturday and I am going! LOL Drew will be here (maybe the other two too) I know I won't get out the door without my Drewy so we will hopefully find some good deals!!

Nicole my gosh thats got to be the deal of the century! I love hen's and chicks too! Good for you!

sleeperblues....WOW! That's a huge compliment! Thank you!

When we were building this deck I asked my neighbor over so he could see why we were making so much noise with saws, cutting the stone....I was apologizing for the noise we were making. He looked at the area and said, "that's quite the vision". :0) Like we couldn't build the thing....it was just a pipe dream. :0) We still laugh about that.

Went to 2 sales yesterday. They both listed having baby items, and their baby items were all old and/or stained, but I did score an Eeyore! I have a Mickey and a Minnie that are pink that match this Eeyore, from the Disney Store. It is in brand new condition, with the tag still on it that says $32.50....and I got it for 50 cents!!

Are you already thinking pink, Tammy? For 50 cents, I guess it won't hurt if it turns out that you need a blue Eeyore.

lavon46....I have a lot of snippets from when we were doing the inside your house thread. My point & shoot camera has a hard time with wide angle shots....DH owns the good camera. :0) You remember that thread? Those were about it for the workout room...the master suite....the entryway...I don't want to hijack Paula's thread...but...here's a trip down memory lane...:0)

Paula, I told Jason that if it's a girl it will go in the crib, and if it's a boy it will just be mine....or it may end up being mine either way! LOL!
We went to a baby consignment shop yesterday, too, and I went a little crazy in there. They had so much there that I loved, and it all looked brand new! Got a stroller/carseat travel system...oh my gosh! I love this so much! Strollers are so much cooler now than they were 18 years ago! And I got the swing that I've been eyeing at Toys R Us and love. Also got a beautiful changing table that has a sleigh-bed style to it. Plus Jason picked out a toy he liked. Only spent $200 there and the retail price on the swing and travel system alone is $300. They only sell things in like-new condition. Can;'t wait to go back and get some more goodies!

That's great Tammy. I don't visit the consignment shop here since in the past, the prices have been too high but I should look again.
