Yard sales this week

I had to rush this week. Nick had a football game at 9am. Most yard sales start at 8am around here but there happened to be a couple that started earlier today.

I got a ton of clothes for Nick this fall - nice brands and stuff he will like. He has enough tops and sweatshirts now, he just needs pants. Boys that age are so hard on pants that I haven't come across very many at yard sales. I also got him a swimsuit for next year (he swims every day at camp so he needs a lot of them) and some pajamas.

Otherwise I didn't really find much but I figured that was enough of a score to consider it a good week. I bought Dan a toy and Sesame Street video, I got a cookbook and a few t-shirts to workout in and one other shirt. I bought a plush snake for Nick since he couldn't come with me this week.

I wonder how much longer I have this year for yard sales. It seems like fall has suddenly arrived.

Went to several yesterday with my grand-daughters, 6 and 7 years. The older one got a beading loom, with beads and all, never opened for $1. The younger one got a leapster and a game that the lady said just needed new batteries to
work. We went and got batteries, took it home, and it would
not work. GD spend $3.50 of her allowance and was SOOOOO
upset. We took it back and lady wanted her to choose something else....GD just wanted her $$ back, so they finally refunded it. It wasn't the cost, just the principle (sp?)..It was all I could do not to be nasty to
the lady for taking advantage of a 6 year old!!! Needless to say, we bought NOTHING else from THAT sale!!! LOL!!

I haven't been to any this week, but plan to go to the monthly flea market in Winnie tomorrow. It is miserably hot, but I still want to go.

All of it looks great to me, the little squirrel peeking out on the deck,"She sell seashells" sign & shells around. The blues work so well with the coral & pinks & white. Little guy by pool looks like a sweetie! Grandma doesn't like the attention! She does match beautifully in the pic where she is sitting in the chair, her shirt looks great with the empty blue chair, blues go together well! Yes, Wetumpka is just north of Montgomery. Wish I'd known you were coming! If you get back down this way, let me know, and maybe we can arrange a trade. My daylily gardens will be in full bloom in a few weeks. I went Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I got a few books, a book light, some large disposable baking pans, new, 3 tops and I can't remember what all. The books and light were only $.25 each. The pans were ten cents each and the tops were fifty cents each. I also got a microwave bacon tray for $.25 and 3 divided heavy plastic plates for $.25 each. It is rainy today so some were not open. It was a good day. Cheryl got a really nice counter top ice maker for $10. I had a nice visit with the gal that has the barn sale. Cheryl and I ate a yummy piece of oatmeal cake while there and then she had us take a piece home to Amber. It was a good shopping weekend. Sue

We went to about 30 sales this morning, didn't find a lot but what we did find is nice! We're pretty picky nowadays, and pass up many things we would've bought a few years ago. DH is buying toys and such for his niece's two little boys, and he found little ball gloves, a couple of badmitton rackets and a basketball hoop on an adjustable stand. I found a really cute Brighton straw purse for $10, complete with storage box and cloth dust bag. Oh and I bought a darling sun dress that I am 98% sure is too small for me. But, I can hope to be that size by next year, right? And then two glass Christmas balls that were hand blown in Springfield, MO. They're gorgeous!

DH and I were yard-saling today and found a sale with two shoeboxes full of shot glasses ... perfect size for (Garden Junk) plate-flower centers I think! (this is a craft that girlfriends and I are planning for next spring). They were selling for 25-cents each and I was counting out 12 of them so we'd each have four.

DH was talking to one of the ladies hosting the sale and she mentioned they were raising $$ for medical expenses for their friend fighting lymphoma. I heard that and asked whether it was the result of breast cancer and yes ... it was. I'm a BC survivor, so I went over to talk to the girl and that's just what she was ... maybe 27 or 28 years old MAXIMUM. She's in the middle of her chemo treatments and doing well, the prognosis is good.

DH bought all the shot glasses, I think there's 30 of them ... and gave them $40 to go toward her treatments. She cried, they all hugged him, he got so embarassed.

It was a good day.

WOW!....I've got nothing like that to report....just antoher day @ the ARC.

We paid $6. Found the backpack online for $129, on another site on sale for $50.
