Hey, no one told me I was supposed to do 'exciting' things today. So I've stuck with the mundane of running errands, making a check-up appt for my car with my mechanic, a little cleaning here and there. But, I am going to eat with the Amish again tonight. They serve it family style, all you can eat, and most will be delicious. I like getting to meet new people and to see some we've met before.

I got a pedicure this morning. My first this year. I leave Thursday for California and my high school reunion. I am so excited. A friend in CA invited me to accompany him to a SCVMC Foundation dinner but it is the same night as my reunion. Darn, darn, double darn. The events are 300 miles apart.

Very exciting day.....went for Remicade infusion, just got back.

Next big event is....laundry.

Not much--and certainly no excitement around here. I picked up the house and I'm making a batch of homemade spaghetti sauce. I seal-a-mealed the rest of the vegetable soup and meat I'd bought a few days ago that had to get in the freezer--rearranged everything in the freezers so now I know what I have and where it is. My brother called from Indiana and I talked to him for a while and then called my sister in IRB.

Hello my dear friend. I am doing laundry all day today. I wait until larry gets home from down south and do it all at once. Easier this way. I try to do it only once a week now that it is just the 2 of us home.

Going to go out and pick up some sticks. Darn wind just keeps blowing them down.. Oh well, it keeps it cooler..

I vacuumed the house yesterday and DGD dusted for me,so today i put up my fall decorations in the dining room.Was going to do th front porch as well,but today is yard day and the guys will come this afternoon to mow,trim and clean up the yard,patio and porch,so i'll do those tomorrow.

Also changed my bedding and have my sheets in the washer,they're probably done,so i need to go put them in the dryer.

This afternoon i have to pick up GS at school and take DGD to her therapy session.After that i'm gonna sit down and watch dr phil,& oprah.GD is cooking tonight.She already made the lumpia,so just has to do the rest when she gets back from therapy.

And to think when i got up this morning i was sooooooooo tired,i was tempted to go back to bed.Once i started moving around i was ok,thank goodness.

I am putting things from my old computer on cd, gathering up install cds and 'thinkin' about trying to set up the new computer. I hate this kind of stuff... my brain goes all mushy and blank. Needs to be done though... if you don't see me posting the rest of the day you'll know my plan failed and I am internetless.

I got an early start to Walmart, 7:30. Got a number of things, new shower curtain & liner, Pyrex 9x9 glass baking pan with lid. ( After trying to bake some gooey bars in disposable aluminum 8X8 pan and having the pan collapse and all the gooey stuff go in the oven, broiler band under the stove, I need something more stable.) A bunch of groceries, which I save enough money on them compared to our local store, it pays for the gas to go the abt 50 mile round trip. Oh, and I bought myself a new computer game, a hidden objects game. Cat food and a bunch of other things. I go early because then I can get a riding cart and a good parking spot. I was home by 10:30.

Gee, never got the memo, that it was supposed to be 'exciting' today--LOL.

Frantic has been more like it.

Was talking to DD on the phone when the cell rang. It was the urologist's nurse, wanting to schedule my 'stone removal' for Monday. But, she said, I still needed another X-ray and an EKG. So called DH so he could arrange to take Mon. off. Dashed to the dr's office for the paperwork, to the radiology center for the X-ray, to the hospital for an EKG. Then, when I got home, the stone center (that's what they call it--LOL) called to let me know they'll want about $1000 up front, no checks accepted! After that, I went out and tracked down the engineer on the streets project out front, to see if the streets would be passable Monday, since I may not feel like walking 5-6 blocks once I get home. They're planning on pouring the curbs that day, so guess it depends upon whether or not they're right in front of the house when I get here.

I'm done with 'exciting' for today--give me quiet and peaceful for a few hours, please.

I'm looking for a diamond for my boss.....make that still looking..... And trying to track down info we need from the zoning offices in several counties. The latter is making me nuts, been working on this project for 2 weeks, what disarray the county offices seem to be in!

Well, I should have been doing housework, but instead I went to two different cemeteries to work on my FindAGrave assignments. I was almost completely successful too. It was a good day. When I came home, I took the doggies for a short walk as it is too hot to go far. It was still in the 90's at 6:00 pm.

I took my dog to the vet and spent the best $287 of my life! No cancer! Our Rottie started limping last night and by 2 AM her entire leg was hanging. I looked for pad cracks or tears. I rotated and palpitated. I prodded. Found nothing. Nothing is sometimes scarier than something. She couldn't lay down or even sit without assistance. Bone cancer is very common in Rots. I didn't sleep much last night.

Gave her aspirin and called the vet this morning. Truck was in the shop so made a 4:00 appt.

Of course she improved during the day but still....

Took her in and the vet had the same worries. He came back in with a big smile and said come look at the X-rays. NO spots. Great bone density. Clear lungs. Even her elbows look great except for a pinpoint of calcification that points to an old injury or wear. Even her vertebrae look like that of a much younger dog. She'll be 7 in Nov. I'm doing the happy dance.

wildchild, I'm so glad your Rottie came through in such good shape. But, did they figure out what her leg problem was?

First I made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned, I had to cancel a few weeks ago (go in every 4 months), & was surprised that she had two openings next Monday...which is very unusual. Wonder if The Great Recession is forcing people to cut back on dental work.

Then I decided to take a long walk (5 miles up, 5 miles back) to our County Courthouse to do some genealogy research. A lady requested info on a great uncle who left home in Minnesota around the turn of the 20th Century, ended up in California, was rarely heard from again, changed his last name, and died here in 1964 at age 83. She was able to at least obtain a copy of his CA death certificate, but that was about it.

The "exciting" part ws I was surprised to find a modest probate proceeding for him at the Courthouse, and since there were no known heirs, a nice sum of money was turned over to the State of California in 1966, which I believe his heirs are still entitled to. I don't know if interest is obliged to be paid by the State on this money, but it felt good to tell someone that they might be getting a little unexpected windfall.

So I more than got my daily exercise in & also did my Good Deed for the day.

I played doubles tennis with some friends - particularly exciting since I'm an above knee amputee and they have all their limbs.

Went fishing with a friend and caught my limit, that is if moss has a limit! Broke my reel, stabbed my finger, got two bites, both of which managed to flip off the hook. My friend caught about 8, but we do a catch and release, so it was a good day. The moon was spectacular on the way home.
