Is Anyone Doing Anything Exciting Today?

I am waiting for Amber and we are going to get our groceries as we do most Wed. I do like to grocery shop, but hurry though it. We will eat someplace down there, which is always fun. So tell me about your exciting day!

Mom and I'll be meeting two other KT'ers in Lincoln for lunch. Diane/Rosepetal, and Toni/Toni-NE. We try and do this when Diane comes home from England each summer.

Might not sound exciting to anyone else--LOL!

but I've been looking forward to today for 4 weeks. Have my appt. with the orthopedic surgeon tonight to see if my ankle's healing okay. I SO hope I can pitch this horrible Herman Munster Boot I've been wearing for the past month!

Actually feels pretty good--as you can imagine, I have cheated a bit and done a little walking around the house without the torture device on, and am having no problems.

Keep your fingers (or TOES) crossed for me. I cannot wait to get back to driving and being able to get out and about without having to impose on others.

Very nice cuttings Golden....lucky you. I think the way you potted them up is good. I usually cut the longer cuttings into a few pieces because it makes them a bit more manageable and for insurance. I find that quite often some of the cuttings don't make it. I buy the 2' tall bamboo hoops from Home Depot and wrap my long cuttings and new growth around them. With new growth it's a good idea to make sure the growing tip points up otherwise I find that they often stop growing. It's okay to wrap them around later when they've stopped growing or when they're long enough to end up pointing upwards. Here's a picture of cummingiana on a hoop. I often add a bamboo stick to the center of the hoop just to give it a bit more stability. I think your pubicalyx with the splashier leaves is called pubicalyx 'Splash'. pharoah, thanks for that link. I've been perusing that site and others trying to find any information I can...it's so much harder to find (at least for me) than info re tile, kitchens, etc... I'm getting out of control! I just ordered another, bigger, blueberry bush - Semi-Dwarf Northland, a Pixie Crunch dwarf apple tree, and some Purple Passion asparagus starts! I wanted to hold off on the asparagus since I don't even have the ground ready yet and since it lasts 20+ years, I need to put it in the right spot from the get-go, but I couldn't resist. I almost bought some strawberry plants but I don't have room for what I already have yet so I told myself, stop!! Deanna - I have a marseilles fig and I love it. I grow mine in a pot and put it in the garage every winter and the next spring it leafs out and grows fine. The buds on mine just broke this past week as a matter of fact. It's now on my back, 3-season porch waiting for the temps to warm a little bit more before I move it out onto the deck. My grandfather used to bury his fig every year and my brother does that with his, but I'd rather keep it in the pot and just take it in. Altho it's getting a little big now. I'm going to have to keep it at the size it's at now if I want to still be able to take it in every year! My back is going to be killing me by the time I get all that lawn dug up and the veggie bed in order! I always bite off more than I can chew every spring and you'd think I'd learn by now, but I never do!! The next spring I'm doing the same thing again! Lisa

Great job, everyone! I started the Atkin's lifestyle change last September and have seen very good results with it. I have to be careful eating very low carb because I have a fussy kidney - it is harder on the kidneys if you eat high protein/low carb. But with a few modifications I can eat the Atkins way forever and do just fine. I did have a few treats at Christmas; I was given a beautiful Christmas cake which I absolutely love - the carbs in that are through the roof so I gave it to a friend who also loves it but isn't so worried about nutritional values of what is consumed, I hope he really enjoyed it. I was initially going to cut it up into tiny pieces and freeze them individually so occasionally I could have a piece, but knowing myself I decided it was better to not have the temptation in the house. Last fall I was wearing a size 18 pant and a size XL or 1X top - today I am wearing a size 12 pant and a size M top - still want to drop another 15-20 pounds. Once that's done, I do intend to give myself some leeway on what I can eat, but I will monitor closely the way my clothes fit - any snugness and it's back to Atkin's boot camp for me. I don't know how exciting it is but.....

This morning I was at the airport at 6:45 to see my cousins off home to NC. They are both elderly (86) and she is not in good health so they needed a lot of help with suitcases, check-in, and so on. I doubt if they will be back this way again and I am thinking that there is a good possibility that I'll never see them again. I had a little weep on the way home and I'm still a bit sad. I keep in touch on a regular basis so that will have to do.

I downloaded some pictures of Henry and my garden to my Facebook albums.

I did a load of laundry and hung it out to dry. Now it looks like it will rain. Oh well.....

Today is a civic holiday here because of the Royal St. John's Regatta, the oldest annual sporting event in North America. The very earliest verifiable mention of a rowing competition dates back to 12 August 1816 although it is believed that there were races between the crews of vessels docked here as early as the 1700's.

So I'll just spend the rest of the day watching a race every now and then on TV and puttering around, trying to get this place into some semblance of order. Good luck to me!

I'm on vacation. My husband and I are at a resort in Minnesota this week. Along with a couple of cousins of mine and a few of their families. It's been cold and windy but we're having a good time. We are catching some nice fish. I don't know about exciting but it is very relaxing here. The sunsets have been gorgeous! The resort has wireless connection so I have gotten to be on here from time to time.

Ahhh just sitting around, watering plants and playing on the computer. I'm thinking about cleaning my computer desk, but that makes me want to buy a new monitor, and that means I would have to drive 30 miles to get it. Maybe I should leave my desk the way it is. :o)

Not a whole lot happening in this neck of the woods...My DH and DS are finishing the wall and steps that were damaged by the last hard rain...I told DS (who is visiting from N.C.), if he got his work done, I'd take him for Chinese and then stop and get my glasses adjusted......One of the DGS is making pizza for dinner and that's about it....Just a nice laid back kind of day....

We just said goodbye to our visiting younger son a few minutes ago. He lives and works in New York City, but his firm sent him on a trip to London, Dubai and Singapore. He was able to come home via Los Angeles, and he arrived the day after my birthday. My older son and his girlfriend came down for a quick dinner out with us, and then my DD and DGS came down for several days to visit while her brother is here and her DH was out of town. She just left to drive her brother to the airport on her way home with DGS. It has been a busy week. Now I will do laundry and vacuum.

I do love having the kids visit. We normally see our younger son only at Christmas and Thanksgiving, so this was a real treat.

Right now I'm sitting on my patio enjoying a perfect summer day and sipping a McDonald's Mocha Frappe. The weather is gorgeous and soon I'm going to put the computer in the house and read. The trick is to make myself get off the computer!!! Later I plan on weeding one of my flower beds. Maybe I'll do a couple loads of laundry too, depending on my energy level.

finished my jd robb book, and finally got out..went to wal mart to wander...ended up with a package of cubed steak...it's been on my mind since someone posted they fixed it...we havn't had any in ages...i'll be good and won't do the full gravy we love with chicken fried steak....

LOL I wwas really exciting today.....I finished a book and started another I didn't sleep good last night...(drank a pitcher of ice tea think taht was it LOL).....so now just getting stuff done....stacy

I looked for job openings for about 3 hours this afternoon, sent off a couple of resumes.
Went to Ace hardware for their $1 days. I got 2 butt buckets for DD, a dish soap, a eyeglass repair kit, and 150 count box of Kleenex. I had a $5 rewards card, and spent 54 cents total. The kleenex kept ringing up .29 ea instead of $1, and I told them I would take all they had. lol....I was a good sport and waited while they fixed the scanner. We had a good giggle over it.
Then off to the grocery. Glad to be back home, it is really hot out today, now it looks like is going to rain. Yea!!
Gave Buffy some fresh water and a hug, now I am inside on the computer.

Okay, Trinity, I gotta know - what are butt buckets!? LOL

Went and walked shelter dogs today with DGDs. Then we hit Sonic and got drinks, came home and worked on taking things off the walls in their bedroom here. We're (Twinkie!) getting ready to paint their bedroom, get this, SOUR APPLE! LOL

Butt buckets are about the size of a soft drink can for the car. If you smoke, you can use them in your drink holder. They are made of some thick plastic non melting type material, and have a hole in the top, so you can snuff/drop your cigarette inside without having to smash it and have it continue burning in an ashtray. Also keeps you from having a smelly ashtray in the car. They don't stink because they are completely contained.

Senior meeting, most went to Zoo for trip--we did not go because we had just been with grandkids and it was HOT, well 76, seemed hot. Expecting big storm Fri/Sat then summer might be here for a couple of days.
