Lew: why are you so hostile??? You've just never explained this. Others on this forum have postulated as to why, sometimes offlist to me, even. I just have a hard time believing or understanding anything but what a person writes. I'm willing to believe what you write. I would like to hear more from you about why you are so suspicious and negative; it reflects very badly on you when you won't respond more fully or honestly. Bias Happens. Any scientist or student, really, knows this, should know this, should expect it. To some of us, life is constructed around a never-ending search to whittle bias away, but that is an explicit acknowledgement of its existence. Always. But you don't write much, and you don't write fully and you don't answer direct questions. It is really upsetting, really. What kind of a troll or shill or dishonest person are you? I'm assuming that you are a counter shill to Capital, because frankly, out of the 12 threads that you've contributed to, I can't find but about 3 comments where you provided actual useful information to the poster. Most posts have been to bump up a negative Capital thread, or otherwise seem to want to put a negative slant onto Capital. You've never posted in any of the other forums here, just the Appliance Forum. And with a seeming bias. So, if a very informative (and humanly biased, as we all are) forum member is to be publicly called out for "abuse", it's only fair that you disclose your own identity and agenda. Otherwise, it's just sour grapes that Capital seems to have been a success." There have been an impressive number of spot-on posts to this thread above. I've run out of memory for how many "what xyz or pqr said" responses I'd like to make. All of which speak to the oft-summarized point that posters at least here (can't speak to readers only) really aren't so simplistic to swallow whole-hog much of what gets claimed and posted. This is one data point filled with individuals contributing anecdotal experiences. We get it. So .... where do you fit in? I've asked elsewhere, repeatedly of you before to deafening silence: do you work for a relevant enterprise? What is your profession please? From whence derives so much of your ire?

I do take responsibility for that - I have insurance, my insurance company says I must be responsible for installing window locks, and alarm. But I know I could be robbed, and I have been. It would be irresponsible of me NOT to make some preparation for a bad event. "I never have heard anyone say, "You have to take some of the responisibility for having had your car stolen. What made you think nobody would steal a nice car like that?" I am responsible for where I park it...for having it insured etc, I drive a boring car that nobody would want to steal. These are things I have done to lesson the chances of me becoming a victim. If we are responsible for our behavior, surely, in the terrible event we become a victim, we will move through the trauma process a lot more smoothly and eventually end up in a place of forgiveness. If we think of ourselves as a "victim" then how do we get over the trauma ?

Actually, that same "addictive personality' thing is probably why he is commercially successful. Among people I know I'm not sure I would call it "addictive" as much as an ability to focus intensely and bore in. They seem to bring this intensity to everything they do....work, eating, drinking, recreation. (I'm this way with chocolate malted milkshakes...have to stay away from them!) It seems to all go together. Not a bad thing, neccesarily, but needs control and balance. You've described an imbalance in perspective. His acknowledgement of it is a good thing. Does he have the will to control it? Among the people I know with this tendency, they never have one drink because it doesn't accomplish anything. If they're going to drink at all, they drink to the point of elevation they want. In terms of control, they decide whether this is an appropriate time to be "elevated" or not and either imbibe or don't based on that evaluation. None of them do it regularly. They choose. Friends I had that were regular about it, I've had to let go because they lost track. Basically resesnted it when they were in booze-free situations. Became something of a social nuisance. Again, I say, I don't know your man. Just keying on the "signals" you've described. Encouraged by his acknowledgement. Sounds to me as if he knows its time for a change and maybe you're the motivation to consider it. Still places a burden on you which you may not be interested in accepting. Does seem to me you're thinking clearly about it. I don't see a fault in yoiur bearing with it hoping for a change or in choosing to not to. Your life. Your time. Your choice. His choice, too, I think, if he intends to keep you.

no, i didn't post my concerns in the paint forum since I was pretty sure what was causing the problem and, therefore what had to be done. sure enough stripping them does make a difference. though it was another whole step, and a lot of extra work it was worth it. i did another test yesterday and the primer now sticks. and as you know, this is very important. one more thing i should mention, a friend who use to be a professional painter, told me to to add some FLOETROL to the paint (as per the instructions). he was right, the difference with the Floetrol is substantial... and I am using BM Impervo which is a self-leveling paint. not only does the paint go down smoother but i could also put down a lighter coat. the result is so close to a spray finish that i doubt anyone could tell that they weren't sprayed. (NOTE: Floertrol is for latex paint only. if you are using an oil-based paint use the oil version) since I am going to all this trouble and seeing that that i will be living with these cabinets for many years I would rather spend a little extra effort now, and an extra day or two, if it means getting a much superior finished result. the only extra advice I would give is to be very careful with the corners and in the grooves. This is where paint drips tend to occur and show-up. i will post some pictures when I am done.
