What's on your table, today?

Staying home, for a change.

Fixed me an old time favorite, Chinese chicken on chow mein noodles, and some asparagus. Wish I had a tomato to go with it, but not running to store just for that.

I served whatever they wanted from the menu at Red Lobster. I personally had the blackened catfish. SIL, DD, DH all had shrimp. DGD#2 had crab cakes and gave me a bite. Pretty good but not as good as Fat Katz.

Nothing on my table, but at DS and DIL's their table was full! They had a big party and on the table was: BBQ brisket and sausage Spicy yellow squash cooked on the grill Several dips and chips beans American potato salad German potato salad a BIG bowl of fresh fruit peach cobbler w/ice cream We left a little early because I had book club last night, but DIL send lots of food home with DS#3. So I have enough for dinner tonight!

Kelly, I think the table would look much better on my porch. :) Those are perfect color combinations too. It won't get rained on will it? I have two recent spots in my home. Now that the sun is shining through the windows again I love looking at my utility room in the afternoons. It also makes a nice plant hospital for the other plants in my house in case they get sick. Not a good picture because of the shadows on the shutters. They look really dark in this picture, but they're a light cream. Below is the lamp I bought specifically for the sofa table, but stupid me forgot how dark shades give off poor light, even though this is a 3-way. But the lamp found a new home in a small corner in the living room and it's perfect there. The area really highlights the embroidery on the shade. You can't tell from this picture but the two walls are only about 3 feet wide, which makes it a fun and difficult spot to decorate.

Each day of the week has a theme that I follow, and Monday is "Big Meal". That means a large cut of meat so there are leftovers for lunches/sandwiches/stir-fry, and possibly enough for the freezer, and possibly the base for soup. Last night was ham, fresh pole beans from the garden in "Spicy Asian Green Beans". Also from the garden - Potatoes O'Brian (with onions & peppers), a gluten-free banana muffin (from the freezer), and for dessert - I made a 3-minute Microwave Apple Crisp with a Jonathan apple, some raisins, palm sugar, apple pie spice, and a dab of butter. Served with a little whipping cream and homemade granola on the top - which is a Q&E substitute for Apple Pie and Ice Cream at our house (I hate to make pies so I fake them when possible ;-).

Well of soon to bed here and easter day is over. We have had a lovely day, nice breakfast, great weather. Been to a castle museum, looking at how they lived there from 1500-1935 when it became a museum. Had lunch down in the castle cellers, nice and cosy. Tonight I made for starter: brusketta with baby tomatos, avocado, mozzarella on pesto sourdoug bread, main: roast lamm, potatogratin, redcurant jelly and a salad and dessert just coffee and cookies. Took out some hot Italian sausage to grill up tonight with peppers and onions on fresh long rolls. Also made a big veggie-ladened pasta salad (leftovers will be great this week)!

Chicken here, too. Chicken Marsala with rice and green beans or green peas. Have some leftover peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert.

I am going to bake a turkey breast and have mashed potatoes and fresh corn with it. Easy dinner but our favorite!

we had spaghetti and garlic bread for lunch! i am proud to say that i've cleaned up the lunch dishes and the table just has the centerpiece on it. oops. and the place mats, forgot those!

Meatloaf, smashed potatoes, and glazed carrots. The spuds and carrots are from our garden. Yum!
As far as what's on it right now...there's my handy-dandy bucket of cleaning supplies. I'm rounding the bend and am almost done cleaning the whole house. Whew.

Right now on the table is just a fruit bowl with one apple and a banana.

But on the stove is a Peach Cobbler cooling.

I'll have to eat some left overs or something though before I get into the cobbler.

A mummy project for a 6th grade class study of Egypt. Lots of torn up newspaper, a bowl of flour and water with a hefty squirt of glue. Have it built and one side covered with the old standby paper mache flour and water paste. Have to do the other side, then help him make the "casket". Then he has to paint it and turn it in by Thursday.

I grilled a huge rib eye steak that David(hubby) and I shared. Big garden salad and some mac and cheese.

A couple napkins and the salt/pepper shakers...lol

I was going to hang around the house and do some cleaning up in the house and yard but I haven't seen a lot of my dd lately. So, when she came back from a sleepover party this afternoon decided to take her out. We went to the movies and dinner, then I finally went grocery shopping.

I've had a pot of beans cooking since 6:00 this morning and they still aren't done enough! It's almost 12 hours now!I can't figure out why they are taking so long to cook. DH and son are starting to complain so I thawed out some sausages and cut up some onion and bell pepper strips for italian sausage sandwiches. We'll have the beans tomorrow night I guess! I've never had to cook beans so long before! It's just the bag of bean mix!!

There was nothing on my actual table today. Dh and I met my niece and her dh . We went to a covered bridge festival. There are lots of crafts and food. Needless to say we ate alot of things we shouldn't have.
We were exhausted by the time we got home. Called out for pizza.

It WAS planned to be turkey, mashed taters, dressing, gravy, sauteed brussel spouts, yams, hot bread and cherry cheesecake.

However...................

Pvt Jonathan wanted to make his "rounds/homecoming visits" and knew those would be unknown timewise, so we decided pizza and beer was a good idea for tonight as we watched the Dallas -vs- Greenbay game.

His homecoming dinner will be served on Monday night!

We had "clean out the fridge" tonight. DH had fruit and cottage cheese. I had biscuits, beef stroganoff and green beans. Now, the dishes are done, the kitchen is clean and the dining table is decorated with a big white ceramic bowl filled with lovely red pomegranates. I hope I can keep the clutter off this coming week!
