... and it is considered "Brain Exercise"... so I am not just wasting time! LOL!

It's called Word Bubbles. They give you 3 letters, then you see how many word you can make in 1 minute. There are 3 rounds (words) to a game. It is on Luminosity dot com which I learned about from Parade magazine (in the Sunday paper). They have a variety of free games as well as those they charge $ to play. They're designed to exercise various parts of your brain/cognitive skills & improve brain health. I've only done the free games. You might have to register to play the free ones, I don't recall.

My best score on Word Bubbles: 2780.

Oh that is fun!! Good mental exercise! Although I'm feeling a little "out of shape" right now trying to think of all these words!

Addictions....there are so many... Pistachios currently and coffee. Used to be addicted to Mt. Dew. Why? Cuz it was like taking a shower on the inside! I was addicted to tropical plants and carnivorous plants before orchids. Used to be addicted to buying CD's and smoking ganja/taking drugs. I collected dragons and wooden puzzle boxes obsessively. I'm addicted to tv and media in general, including some reality shows. Cigarettes. Lord of the Rings and now Harry Potter. Computers. Used to be a freak for online cribbage. I'm obsessed with killing squirrels, mosquitoes, and snails, lately. Sports. Stringed instruments, concerts, covered parking, exotic fruits. I'm sure there are more...but I must go outside to kill some snails and have a smoke. -MB p.s. i forgot "hot asian cam-sluts"...but i guess that counts as porn, eh? :)

Thanks, everyone, for all your compliments. So nice to hear such things from all my forum friends. I didn't think about it as I was designing the table, but I guess having skunk plates does make me sort of special. What I can't figure out is, why didn't any of you ask where you could get your own skunk plates??? Come to think of it, the fact that I actually collected a bunch of skunks does put my sanity into question. This tidbit of information that you've all learned about me is something not one other living person knew (even my husband and grown children). Now that you know, I'm asking that you keep it under wraps. :-P A nod to the color scheme: As the designers on HGTV are found of saying, I used the plates as my "inspiration piece" and went from there. Remember the pink and black bathrooms of the 50s? We had one and it was full-blown (along with an avocado and gold kitchen). Must go now, I've thought of another game table idea. Again, thanks for the cheering section.

The big difference between your mainstream desktop and one used for a gaming is a discrete video card. While you can sometimes add a video card to mainstream computers, most don't have a large enough power supply. Which means you need to replace the power supply. You might be better off building a computer. A decent gaming machine starts at about $700 but you could probably get away with a bit less of a machine because you're looking to play older machines. If the operating system is an issue, dual boot between XP and whatever else you'd like to use.

You don't need anything real special for what you plan to do. If your happy with the desktop model, maybe narrow down the Laptop to that model type, other wise it's very difficult to choose for yourself let alone someone else. There are good deals to be found so someone may post about that.

There are "tips" that players submit over on the right side of the page. They will help you out.

I can't play this game before I go to bed... my brain won't stop thinking of words, works, worms....... LOL

I find that it will count as a word anything I spell out.

Sheila, it seems to type out any word you input, but the bubbles don't go up if it isn't a word.

It's fun. I might join.

Bee, do you not understand that I have an addictive compulsive personality. Now yet another game. I'm starting to get the knack of it but I have a ways to go to catch you. I just got 2040 but I think I am quitting for the night....the operative words...I think. I do need to get to bed a little earlier tonight to make up for three hours last night.

Oh, Georgysmom, I DO understand.... very well! LOL

Fast typer gives an edge. Sometimes it's impossible to score well... I mean how many short, easily typed words can you get with PSY ?? Those don't just roll off the fingers real quickly, even if you can come up with several.

Because they do repeats, I often look for more options in my computer's dictionary when I encounter one that I get easily thwarted with. I've also learned NEW words, just by adding random endings. (Not that I looked at their definition. LOL)

One of the hints is to read the dictionary. Who has time? I'm too busy playing the game!

It counts BAD (even REALLY bad) words! WoooHoooo!

(not that anyone here even knows any bad words... LOL)
