P-U Game Table

Did you ever play a dice game known as SKUNK?

It was popular in the early 50s. I loved the game as a kid (in part

I suspect, because of its name) and now I play it with my grandchildren.

I collected ceramic skunks when I was little. (DonÂt ask.)

The skunks and the shadow box in which they were displayed

disappeared about the time I turned 12, when my bedroom changed

from Little Girl Cute to Teenage Whatever.

I found the collection when I was cleaning out my folks garage shortly

after my mother passed away. IÂd completely forgotten about them.

At the time, it seemed like I was throwing out so many memories.

I suppose the bitter sweet surprise of finding them and recovering a

once forgotten bit of my childhood just wouldnÂt allow me to toss them.

So they have remained in the box in which I found them, moved from

here to there and back again, but never opened  until now.

The black and white salad dishes are from Crate and Barrel. Black

dinner plates are from MarshallÂs. The gold-rimmed skunk plates

were part of my skunk collection and hung on the wall of my bedroom.

One of the plates still had the plate hanger attached to it when I went to

haul the collection out. I made the pink napkins and placemats for this

yearÂs Easter Brunch.

The two top skunks are salt and pepper shakers (also part of the

original collection). I remember that I had names for all of them,

although I canÂt remember any of the names now.

The dice (and the score pad seen below) are from a vintage

1950s SKUNK game. The wimpy carnations are from my garden.

My husband thinks I've gone completely mad with this one.
