Has anyone heard from Patti?

She and Harry were going on a little trip for a few days and left last Saturday.

I had thought she would have been back by now and posting.

She's probably just resting and thinking of all the stories to regale us with!

Hope to hear from you soon Patti so that I know all is well!

i think she was planning on being gone for a couple of weeks. They were going up through Virginia and into Pennsylvania. I hope they are having the time of their lives seeing the foliage and visiting friends.

I'm curious also, how are you doing? I'm here in NJ myself, visiting family. The weather is getting cold. I'm having a good time.

I really don't see how value range pricing helps in a buyer's market. I don't see why anyone would offer towards the top end. I don't think that the MLS in my area is even set up to accept this type of pricing. Rather than come up with a list price I could see MLS systems allowing homes to be listed in pre-selected ranges, such as $200 - $225, $225 - $250, etc. I don't think most people would go for it though, because everyone wants to know what the price per square foot is. If I could VRP our house, I might have an offer. This will allow me to show the low end and get people in as it would be a new price search category. I wouldn't price it as low as we'd go, which would give us room for negotiating. Thanks mumbles. We did write up a 2 page sheet with all of the features, we have lots of mechanical upgrades like 2 water heaters, hi-eff furnace, etc. that many people would not necessarily notice. We have lowered price to $349,900. We have so far had one nibble. It is discouraging. Would like to see nibble amount to something as people have seen the house 5 times. DH says pretty soon he'll start charging them rent! LOL! The one thing I see on your listing is double photos. You need to look through them, tell your agent to clean it up. I also disliked the slide viewer, the photos are so small. It would also be nice if they could label each photo. But it makes me feel better to have a lowball offer. We countered and I hope they counter back but sounds like they cannot afford our asking, their offer was about $45k less than asking...good for them but we are not desperate (just yet)... Good luck.

Gosh the Italian style meatloaf sounds right up my alley, as well as the Reuben. Of course, any ole time for sausage and gravy over bicuits, is great comfort food. Enjoy pork cutlets as well, and wish I enjoyed eggplant. Hey lazypup, which style dill spears do you like: the new or the old? Marilyn, you are always so busy in the kitchen :o) I love the old, cause I think they have a greater flavor.

How is it telling about people who watch this show? There could be a multitude of reasons...entertainment, as a study in social cultures or even plain people watching, joy of watching a family interact and love each other, or just simple down time with the tv on. I think it's more telling that some people haven't watched the show and bad mouth others who do. TLC has opted to highlight this family because they are at some of the extremes of society. Noticible bodily functions might happen on occasion, but most of us try not to highlight them for the entertainment of others. TLC wants ratings so they make sure that every sneeze, fart, and snot rocket makes its way onto the show. The sneezing and the snot rocket couldn't be helped. Most of us would politely avert our eyes, or say "bless you" or get a kleenix. TLC shows it in an effort to embarrass these people. June, the mom on this show, often has some odd looks on this show. Most likely these 'looks' are because she is squinting because she needs glasses. Most of us wouldn't point fun at someone who needed glasses, but for the people of TLC, it is an entertaining highlight. There are some things this family does, that don't appeal to me. I'm not sure people wouldn't be pointing at my family and saying "Can you believe they did that?" if we were on tv. We all have our family habits. What we consider just fine for us, might be considered appalling to others. While we would all like to believe we are better than other people because of x, y, or z, we really aren't. A collage education is a good indicator of some things. It doesn't neccssarily make a person a better person character-wise than another person. People in college often have multiple sex partners, make illegitimate babies, drink too much, publicly barf and urinate, and display other unappealling habits. The difference is the college educated people have learned to put on a public face and not highlight their imperfections.

Hi! We're home and I couldn't be happier. It wasn't a very good trip. First day, we got a speeding ticket. We were on 441N and the road (4-lane) was completely empty. You could see in front and behind you for miles. It was very hard to keep the speed at 55, under the circumstances. I do not know where that policeman came from!

We got to the motel in Madison, which was about as far north as we could go and find a room considering UGA had a home game. Our room was the farthest one from the nearest entry and Harry had an awful time even with his walker. Got him to the room and then got the bags out (three trips down that daggone hall).

Next day I got car sick. Man, My equilibrium was totally whacked and I was really sick to my stomach. I pretty much stayed that way until Tuesday when we decided enough was enough and I called his brother, who we'd planned to visit on the way back to see if we could come a day early.

We were both pretty much okay after we were out of the car for a while. And I didn't get sick on the way home at all. I think it was all the windy curvy roads that did me in.

I learned a lesson though. It broke my heart that Harry hurt so much. We just need to take weekend trips closer to home. He just can't do it anymore and I wish I'd realized it before I made the suggestion. He was all for going and I think he's a little depressed because it wasn't much fun for either of us.

And the biggest blah was that we didn't even have very good food. I was hungry for some real barbeque and the lodge where we stayed in NC supposedly had prize winning barbeque at their restaurant. It was about the worst I've ever had and was dripping in some tart, icky red sauce.

Now we're just glad to be home and sleeping in our own bed. I don't think we'll be burning up the road any time soon.

Patti: I'm so sorry your trip turned out this badly. I've had a couple like that in my lifetime, and they're definitely no fun.

Awwww, I'm so sorry you had such a rough trip Sweetie!
Give Harry a big hug for me.

When DH lived in NC and Texas (total of 18 years) he's always told me how he didn't like the barbecue in NC. It's quite vinegary and tart; not at all like the southern sauces so I know what you're saying.

Joann, I've been thinking about you and hope you're enjoying your visit with family. It's good to be around family. We enjoyed being at Harry's brother's house. He and John made us feel so welcome.
