special thoughts please

DH was diagnosed with hydrocephalus last week. Seems he was born with it but it just now made itself known. He will have a procedure done tomorrow where they will make an inch and a half incision in his head and drill a >1/4" hole and then thread an endoscopy tube in to punch a hole in the ventricular membrane to release the fluid/pressure. He will be in the hospital overnight and we have to stay in SLC a day or two to make sure he feels ok and then we will be home. He is looking forward to being headache free. He's been having them for over a year before anyone figured out what it was.

You have my thoughts with you! My husband went through this same thing around 15 years ago. He started having headaches, facial pain and even a personality change (due to the constant pain, I think) They went in, just as you described. The procedure should take around an hour. He will be "goofy" for awhile in ICU, but that is normal. He bounced back really quickly from this. Was back to work in a couple of weeks. I hope the same for your husband.

I am very sorry to hear this. I just want to say to Jan that she certainly has my sympathy. She is a special person. I am sure she knows that her mother cared dearly for her and that the quality time between them is her parting gift for Jan to remember always and hold near and cherish.

He's actually having the surgery here. Or HAD the surgery I should say. He's home and on the couch watching the tube and listening/watching the new videos I downloaded to his IPod. He says it hurts but he's so much more tough than me. I'd be in bed trying to sleep it off. :) I got the bed ready for him, but I should have known better. I guess I'd better get ready for a long week of Poker programs and The Discovery Channel. LOL (except when I take over for an hour tonight to watch Jon and Kate +8) Thanks again everyone! glenda, when that happen i just said ok, i'm not waititng and shaved the rest off...it was scarey and sure made my heart sad, but i felt i was taking charge... head over to wal mart..in the same section as purses, ect, they have a selection of bandanas...i had one for summer, and one for halloween..they were my "statement"....i was lucky as breast c drugs wern't as harsh as some? she's got to be reminded that she is still your friend, a mom, and everything she was before, aside from some very nasty cells that have invaded... and be as incouraging to the family as possible...they have to keep that positive outlook as well...prayers are continuing!

Special thoughts for you and your husband. My mother has this condition, unfortunately it wasn't diagnosed in time to get the procedure done. I have only heard wonderful results for those who can have it!

Thank you everyone. We leave in about an hour and should be back no later than Tuesday, but hoping for Monday.
