Sorry the spring is so rough! March and October always bring the worst weather!

I agree there isn't much worse than the flooding and storming that's been going on lately! Fargo is horrible and I was terrified yesterday for DD and the boys, they had total chaos with ice jams on the Missori River, Drew's daycare was evacuated, Hunter's school had several streets closed that go to the school, he wasn't evacuated, but should have been IMO. The state called in explosive experts and blasted spots on it at least twice and may have to do so again. We are talking ice chunks as big as cars jamming up. There was a stretch a mile long that was 3 ft thick with one huge piece of ice. DD works for a corporation that handles a home for developmentally disabled adults, abused children and also a nursing home in another town. They had to evacuate two of their locations. The places evacuated are a LONG way from the river! It was a long draining day.
Overland flooding is awful here. 1/3rd of our town was without water Tuesday the sewer system was getting into the sanitary system! We are now under a water emergency and told to restrict water useage. We had 1.5 inches of freezing rain which caused two power outages in our town (MANY others in nearby towns) cable and internet outages also. No papers and mail because of I-94 closing by Fargo due to flooding.
Oh gosh it is a mess! The only thing helping is right now like you said its been cold. We are going to face a heck of a mess once it starts to thaw again.

Sandbagging is hard work and I have lots of respect for what people are doing in Fargo and Bismarck.

DD#2 has been helping to Sandbag. They needed people on the overnight shift so she's done some 9-10PM to 3-4 AM. I have to say that people complain about "kids" now days... but look at the link...look at all the college kids that could be sleeping, but are waiting for busses to take them to sandbag. AMAZING.

I think Fargo would have lost this battle long ago, Vickey, without those kids! High schooler's too. Last night they told of college kids leaving the cities by 6 am to help Fargo sandbag! Awesome!

I saw the people joining in to do the sandbags. What a horrible situation, especially with the cold. Now today they are saying that lives may be at risk. I do wish all in that area well.

P.S. Mariend, was your son in Oshkosh Wisconsin a few years ago? I think my son was there with him.

Safe thoughts for all!

I've been praying for everyone in/near/around this crisis. Those 'kids' and everyone else doing that backbreaking sandbagging are giving hope as well as help.

Oh oh. We just got a breaking news email some Moorhead residents were told to evacuate immediately if you live between I-94 and 50th Ave, west of 8th Street!
The Red River tonight broke the crest of 1997 and they are saying possibly 43 feet.
Saying prayers for everyone!

DD just called me, and is very nervous, although her house is on the edge of the flood plain, and hopefully will be OK. But she has kitty litter in the car, harnesses and carrier for the cats, everything off the floor in the basement. The heavy snows didn't help matters any out there....just made the sandbagging harder to do. I'm so impressed with the young people doing such a great job.

There is another big storm in the forecast for Monday with heavy snow predicted for the eastern 3rd of ND.
How I hope they are wrong!!!!!

I'm watching all of this in ND right now on City news....thinking of you all in that state.

It's bad enough sandbagging in the heat, I can't imagine it in the cold.
