Special Thoughts for my BIL

Greg[my hubby] has only one brother,no sisters.We have been at the hospital.Steve[my BIL)had his knee replaced a year ago.Staph[I think is the word) set up and so this pass monday they operated again.It took the drs several hrs and the drs came out and said that he did what he could.In about 6 weeks to 6 months they will go back in and see if the infection has cleared.They than will put a plate in.If not they will either fuse the knee or removed the leg above the knee.

Greg went in first to see him and he begged greg to help him.I had to step out because steve was crying so bad and when I see someone cry I cry.His wife was coming up the hallway alone with ashley and their two daughters and Greg's parents.I met them and told them what to expect.Greg told him he would be better soon trying to encouage him.They say the surgery is very painful.If anyone has had this surgery will know what steve is going thur.Yesterday me and ashley went back and he was in better spirit.So please say a special thought for him.I hate to see anyone in pain.Thanks so much.His wife and daughter sit up with him and they said he called for Greg all nite.Greg was at work ,but I offer to call Greg so Steve could talk to him.Greg is sitting up tonite.They have him on morphine pump,but they came in and up the medication that goes in.They said they plan on weaning him off the pump today and giving him pills.Hope that works.

Oh the poor man. He had this surgery a year ago, and staph is just now showing up? I'll keep him in my prayers.

To stay neutral, but have more character, I'd stay away from beiges and other blahs, and go deeper in color, especially for counters...Either medium tones (chocolate brown, deep olive, etc.) or into slate grays or classic black. Staying with earthy tones (browns, golds, grays, burgundies, greens) should still allow someone to jazz it up for themselves, or leave it and still have something rich. The other end of the spectrum, which can be very elegant, I think, is light counter on light cabinets, but that doesn't appeal to everyone. Is the kitchen open to the house (which I'm assuming) or more closed? For cabinets, I think a medium toned wood (except for regular oak) is 'safest,' with the broadest appeal, and might have the least chance of becoming dated. Something that is an environmentally conscious choice could also be a better investment for resale consideration. Painted cabinets are also pretty classic, but it depends more on the style of the house. If you went that route, it'd be nice to see something other than white...dove gray, light sage...Light, but with some character of its own. This is difficult, because you are giving us a pretty large, blank slate. But these are my opinions, and I hope it helps.

I am sad that you have all of those serious issues to deal with just now ... and focussed all in one week. I send many good thoughts and hopes, and prayers for good results, with enthusiasm. Often we would like to take the place of a loved one in such circumstances, I think - especially a child, i.e. one of our offspring. Perhaps especially when they were children, for we sort of think that it's unfair to dump such a load on one not yet grown. Perhaps less so once they're grown ... more or less along the line of, now that they're grown and mature, they can take their chances, as all adults must. Well, yes, but ... a son/daughter's always a daughter/son, and each has a special spot in our hearts, which makes it hard to see them suffer serious uncertainty, pain, etc. ((((((Husband ... Sending good thoughts from here also. What type of valve is she having put in? A pig valve or a mechanical valve? I have heard that within the next 10 years, they won't even have to cut you open (at least not much) when you need heart surgery. it will basically be an in and out thing. I can't imagine that but if I need to have that done, I hope it'll be available to me.

MY DH had a deep staph infection in his arm...the surgery that they did was to remove the entire main vein, from his hand up to the shoulder.
He had immediate pain relief the next day, and it never came back.

Hope your BIL feels better soon.

Stac yes I am off the meds.They gave me meds for the craving.Thanks for asking.I really feel good.To answer the question about the staph,he had a big knot come up under his knee.He thought it was a blood clot.He went back to the dr and they did a MRI and they said it was staph.They placed him on some strong antibodic but it kept getting worst.The knot busted and drained but he felled and things went down hill from there.So they operated Monday.He stayed in surgery several hrs.They found other problems too I forgot to mention.So they were calling in a kidney dr.So I am not sure when he can come home.I hope he does not rush things.Thanks for all the well wishes.His wife is just getting over cancer.She had to have a complete hysterectomy[can not spell the word).They had gave her 6 months to live but when they got in there all the cancer was all in one pocket.We are thankful for this.She is doing really good.Her cancer had not spread like they first thought.She didn't even have to have chemo.I wished the dr had not told her /us they gave her 6 months without doing the surgery first.Maybe I am wrong.She had several tumors on the overies and uterus.But like I said she is doing great now.
