Prayers for my Awesome BIL

my sister just got back from a vacation with her husband and two days later -after a history of headaches- he had slurred speech and she checked him into the ER that night. He's a great great guy please throw a prayer his way. He's only 47 and i love the hell outta this guy. Sorry to ask again but please gimme all you got.

BIL had NHL & went on as if nothing was going on!! Amazing he wasn't sick at all from chemo, been 4-5 yrs since he had it & is fine so things have come a long way. Glad it is up to 97% recovery now!! Still lot of worry & expense & maybe being sick. Hope both ladies do well & recover 100%!Hugs & prayers! Jan

Something was done. He was referred to mental health and was forced to go. That is apparently where the ball was dropped--which is hardly surprising. Psych patients typically remain remarkably sick until two days before their insurance runs out--at which time they always make miraculous recoveries. That way there's little chance of the hospital losing money by discharging them before the benefits run out--and little chance of the hospital losing money by keeping them one minute longer than the insurance lasts. The messages from administration are always veiled but clear--charting needs to reflect the need to stay as long as there are insurance days left--and needs to reflect improvement and stabilization otherwise. There have been some high profile lawsuits by various attorneys general but the trend continues and that's basically the reality of how American psychiatric hospitals do business. It hasn't been too long that the distinguished Chancellor of UC Santa Cruz (???) jumped off the balcony of her San Francisco high rise--in a frankly psychotic state-- according to her poor mother who was with her at the time. This happened the same day she was discharged and therefore "stable." If it can happen to her--it can happen to anyone. Well, In the past 2 days...Lorraine was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and elevated blood pressure, had stress test, all is good there! Whew! Victor was officially diagnosed with Lymphoma (sp?) cancer..somewhere in his abdomen. They will now do a PET scan to determine course of action, longevity, etc. The onocologist did say it was not operable... The family is just besides themselves, brother included..this has been His dad for the past 26 years, more so since our dad died in 1996. Thanks for the prayers all, will try to keep you updated... big wild fire headed for sis & bil's ranch....

OUr email was down yesterday so am just now able to let you know that everything worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you so much for your prayers!! The fire only got one outbuilding on another rancher's property and then it stopped right at the cattleguard that would have led it to that rancher's home...no people or stock injured. The Nat'l Forest Service sent in 2 helicopters that made 2 water drops each and about the same time the wind shifted again and sent the fire more to the south so it only got about 2 miles from from the old farmhouse. They had 2 pumper trucks from a friend's oil company stationed by the homestead pasture, and the county sent out road graders to plow fire breaks everywhere they could safely reach. All in all, it was a frightening time, but worked out well. Lots of burned pasture land, but hay can always be brought in and we are so-o-o-o grateful that no life was lost! Well they are releasing him from the hospital today with really no answers, they believe it's related to his diabetes but that's about it. My sister is not happy with the non-diagnosis and I'm not surprised - our own imagination left unchecked can conjure up awful things :( but she was thankful for the positive thoughts and prayers that have found him feeling well enough to go home. That's a start.

Anything neurological is so frightening, it makes you feel helpless. I'm just going to keep him in our "daily"'s that this was a one shot.

Thank you all, geez I'm ready for the weekend how about everyone else? too much stress these days - for everyone...health, economy, homeland security. I bet I'm not the only one ready for a little time-off huh??
