the tonight show with Johnny Carson

The Carol Burnett show (always seen while sitting at my mother's kitchen table - supposedly doing homework)

I Love Lucy (always seen while lounging on my Nana's couch)

For me, it was as much the shows as it was where I was while watching them.

Soap. A TV series in the early 80's that was pretty racey for its time and was absolutely hysterical. Billy Crystal was in it, along with a host of other great actors and the writing, OMGosh, it was funny!

The Red Skelton Show. I can just see my dad, lying on the living room floor, his head on his right arm, and laughing at it too.
Leslie

Flamingo, I loved "Soap" too. An earlier similar show was "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". It too, was a spoof on Soap Opras and a little racey for it's time. My daughter, who was in college at the time, and I often reminisce and laugh about these two shows.

Rowan and Martin's "Laugh In" was great fun too. Wish they would rerun all three of these show titles so today's young people could see that it doesn't have to be downright raunchy or filthy talk, or seeing how hard you can 'put someone down' to be entertaining and fun.

the cosby show
i liked the clean comedy of that one, the little kids could always make me laugh

Laugh-In fan here, too. Also like the original Saturday Night Live.

I have a great memory of Bonanza's episode #146, "Hoss And The Leprechauns."

My bedtime was before "Bonanza" came on. One evening Grandma as laughing and laughing and laughing at an episode. She let me get up and watch it with her.

I'm with you, Patti, I loved Laugh-in and later SNL, but also, I loved The Smother's Brothers.

There are so many I miss. But I'll say The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Laugh In, American Bandstand, Seinfeld to name a few.

Johnny Carson, anytime he had animals on. My friend just bought the DVD "Best of Carson" for her hubby. I can't wait to see it.

Gayle

I Love Lucy. I still watch them on TVLand. I could live forever watching "Vitameatavegamin" or the one where she buys a freezer.

Such great memories as you guys mention all the shows I watched as a kid. I just loved Johnny Carson, especially with the animals, & never missed Carol Burnett. Wish they had more variety shows on today but I doubt they will ever be popular again. I rarely ever really laugh at the sit-coms on TV these days.
