what could it be? what would you do?

I hope someone here can help. Don't know where else to post it. Several years ago, my mother started having upper back problems. She went to the doctor and they told her that they thought it might be in the nerves of the back. She has alot of burning and stinging, in the back that gets right under her shoulder blades and goes up into her shoulders and neck. They didn't do anything for her though. Over the years she has seen a few other doctors, has had x-rays, mri, the whole bit. No one seems to have an answer. It has been thought that it could be fibromyalgia. She has since started seeing the chiropractor again and he thinks it may be caused from her having the shingles a few years back. All I know is, I feel so bad for her. She loves her great grandchildren so much and if she holds these babies for any length of time she pays for it for several days. It seems to make the problem worse. Not just holding the babies but any kind of lifting or reaching. My mom is not a wimp. She is a young 72, and I just wish she had some answers. Has anyone else had this problem, or any ideas?
