Thanks folks! Sorry I might have been misleading. The link to the photo album is from a fellow conifer gardener. I wanted to show his album as he does a superb job of intermixing conifers. He is in KC. All the photos in this post are mine though!lol!. #1 = Thuja occidentalis 'Congabe' aka Fire Chief. #4 = Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Snow' #5 = Tsuga canadensis 'Moon Frost' #8 = Picea pungens 'Fat Albert' #11 = Picea orientalis 'Atrovirens' What I now love about conifers is that that there is SO much out. Different sizes, shapes, weeping, swaying, climbing, arrows, texture, color and the list goes on. Its almost as if they are blooming in May and June when they push new growth plus you get color all year! There are even some that turn gold during the winter months. I'll be sure to post pics as the landscape evolves. Purples, whites, reds and pale yellows will likely be choice color daylilies when mixing them in. Lime Frost will be the first to go in in the next couple weeks.

I'm betting Sue would know! (chemocurl) as our Resident busybody :) Her words, not mine! lol LMAO!!! I just saw your reply there Wendy at the SEED X about the hazelnutbunny thread over here and stopped by here to see if I could maybe find it and provide the link over there in that thread at the Seed Exchange Conversations....that's what resident busy bodies do ya know! Anywho...the correct thing to do would be to make a suggestion at The Suggestion Forum. You could then provide a link in this thread to the Suggestion thread in the hope that others would go and additionally request an (Off Topic) Conversation side here. Off topic might be better if folks just wanted to post things about stuff not relating directly to RR. It does not appear that the Suggestions are read by GW management, but I do think that in time they will act on some of the many 'good' suggestions that have been made that others have shown a lot of interest in. GW has not made any actual forum additions to my knowledge in a very long time, but I 'think' when they do, they will likely make several of them at the same time, as they did the last time...late 2006. One can hope anyway. I have given my vote of support to several of the suggestions. Heya, Purpleacres - the head honchos might not see this - but if you go to the GW home page, there is a link to "Contact us", which might get your communication to them more directly. Actually that Contact US link is found at the bottom of every page here at GW. It is in the green banner thingy. Sue...rbb She's everywhere! She's everywhere!...just like chickenman! Remember him?

I only used the term 'Lurker' because that is what Texasporch used about herself. I think of the term lurker the same way as reader, internet speaking. There isn't any difference in my mind. Stalker is different. I've been stalked on the internet and have received police involved death threats. That is a whole other situation that involves the ($$) work I do. Here, we can be more flexible on terms used, right? But the readers/lurkers just think they have nothing to contribute. In reality, they can change up everything (for the better). Just sayin'. UDKM is the perfect example. There must be more of you out there, so chime in! We need new blood.

I have sort of a "natural experiment" (aka "by accident") going on with restricting the size of Fortuniana by not irrigating it in summer. Late last winter I moved a 'Fabvier' up to a spot at the very edge of the cared-for part of my garden and grabbed the water line of the Fortuniana I also have growing up there (wild-and-crazy and regularly pruned) and gave it to 'Fabvier', figuring I would get around to fixing something up for Fortuniana later. Well, the summer went along and then it was fall without me getting around to it and I'm realizing that the Fortuniana still looked fine, though not putting on lots of new growth. Never did give it irrigation, and rains started in early November. Looked at it this morning -- lots of new leaves and flower buds, but no wild-and-crazy octopus canes yet, which it used to produce all the time when it got summer irrigation. I know of at least a few banksia roses at old houses around town that don't get any summer water but have persisted for a long, long time, and I am curious now to see how Fortuniana fares under that regime. Imagine this strategy wouldn't work in Florida, though, jin...
