You know you're getting old when........

You are talking to someone on your cell phone,they ask if you have someone's new number.You say you do but you can't pull it up on your phone while you are talking,then you say,"Wait a minute,let me look",then you start looking for your phone! She says,"Uhhhh......aren't you talking on it?" I am getting soooo senile!LOL It was my cousin I was talking to and I know she is never going to let me live that one down! I do that with the remote and my glasses when they are either beside me or in my pocket.

I hear ya..I don't know how many times that when the phone rings, I try to answer the remote, or turn channels with the phone. LOL

Even when I worked nights, I never watched the late news. Okay, I rarely watch TV for any reason. I hate those commercial breaks which consume more time than the proffered show. I use the radio for summaries and 'breaking news', the newspaper for in-depth, and nowadays the 'net has news, videos, commentaries and articles available 24/7. To be honest, I'm one of the ones who is more often not reading the newspaper, but instead using it for other paperly pursuits such as wrapping the scraps to put into the compost pile. I have less need for the 11 o'clock news than ever.

I still think Rosenpots is NORMAL LOL! compared to my havoc! I've always thought of rose cuttings as a magical "art" that only the arcane rose experts can even come close to duplicating...I've seen like tents! really dedicated to this art...(sort of resembles a child's sheet tent) illuminated from the inside with fluorescent lights). I tried to find a link for it, I believe it was posted here or in the rose cuttings forum a month ago...Pretty fascinating but almost seems rose-fi ....both science and magic, LOL! and space-age dedication... Kentstar you would be amazed at the pic...It may take me a few days to find the photo...

I remember... Spending $149.00 for a pocket calculator. (add, subtract, multipy, divide,with *memory*!) When males wore hats (not backwards baseball caps) and removed them in church. Females attending church had to have their heads covered. When you wore your good clothes to travel by air. When the neighborhood drug store had a soda fountain. When a car with air conditioning was a real status symbol. Heck,I even remember when a car with a radio antenna was something special. "All the way with JFK!" And I fondly remember the days when people were actually able to function outside their homes without a telephone attached to their ear... >long sighI feel old.

Wow Sherry what great clump of Indian Giver! Itza Pink Teddy Bear is terrific too. I am finally back on Gardenweb instead of Houzz, what a difference being able to see full photos without clicking. When cleaning out my parents home, my teenage daughter asked what "that thing" was. It was a black rotary dial desk phone.

My mother was in the WAVES (WW2 army for women), and when my brother joined the army, he used to delight in telling my mother, "Yeah Mom, it's a whole new army now. We don't load our guns from the front anymore."

That always cracked me up.

I love that story about the teen and the black, rotary dial desk phone.

... Someone tells you that, in case you break a hip, or for other reason fall over and can't get up, having a land-line phone on the wall might as well be on another planet.

Better have one (or two) hooked to a jack in the wall, sitting on a desk, etc., so you can pull it down by pulling the cord.

Most folks didn't have two phone lines, and now many folks are taking out their land-lines ...

... but how are they going to find their cell ...

... if they can't use the land line to call it to locate it?

We have two cell phones we both use when we are out. I can't tell you the number of times I've tried to call my husband on one and have him not answer only to finally figure out I'm calling myself........
Or how many times I've had to retype this for it to make sense......
