Something's Different Here at the KT.... Did You Notice?

I never did the "opt out" thing with the in-text links. I was just careful to make sure my cursor never hovered over one or, Heaven forbid, clicked on one.

But now, tonight, I'm not seeing ANY in-text links, but what I AM seeing when I'm reading the various topics, is a new area between the last response and the place where the reader can type a response -- and it has "Sponsored Links" in it.

Interesting. I don't necessarily like that area being there, but it's a heck of a lot better than those pesky in-text links!

Does "Peaches and Cream" open cream colored or what? My picture may be deceiving as well as the bloom in coming from the smaller stem that is behind the larger trunk. I don't see a difference in how it hangs and it has one large spit in the calyx on the back side, there is a very short split right in the front that you can see in the photo. (I may have caused that moving the bloom around?) The stem is longer that it is preceived in the photo because it is coming from behind and over the larger branch. The bud had a yellow color to it before it opened. Something decided to dine on the bloom last night so part of it is gone. I will take another photo though for you all to look at. Maybe if it flushes later on you all can determine more about it. Photo's that I looked at of Maya blooms look shorter and with a more turned up skirt. I read a post on this site within the last few months that discussed Sunset and Maya. I am going to go back and read it again. Maybe I will learn more information. If this one is Sunset maybe the other one I have is Peaches and Cream. haha Who knows maybe it is something else. http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/brug/msg0816461624152.html

One of the things I learned when I planted my first palm seeds over a year ago was that they root deep. There's no reason to guess why a plant that is often found growing in arid regions would do this. Water. Nutrients probably figure in as well, since ground percolation of minerals would tend to cary nutrients deeper down. As for the temperature of 50 degrees. That's positively canterwalling wonderful. This is how many plants survive severe freezes and periods of cold. By the warmth that remains constant for their root bases. I'd say that the realization you've just come to affirms a healthy growing environment for your palms.

Lydia, if the goal is to win on a given day, then no, it wouldn't be fair. But I think it works if the goal is to win for the month. That would be true I suppose IF the questions aren't mixed up... say the questions you get on Monday are the ones I get on Wednesday. But still... not really fair. I might do good at guessing on a day that I get a couple sports questions... but I end up getting 6 points cause I am slow and because that particular day a a lot of peeps get a easy group of questions. Now if I had got the sports questions on a day that most everyone else had got the sports questions and I had guessed correctly... I'd have been in the top few players. If you don't make the top 10 on any given day, you really aren't accumulating many points. So.... it really isn't fair anyhow... too many variables. That said... I think I did pretty good for the month of April. I happened to guess correctly on 2 sports questions today! Yay! Now who got a hockey question AND a archery question today??? Did you get those questions anytime this month? I really don't think we are getting the same questions throughout the month. I don't think I will ever beat you, Alisande or Casey or some of the other speedy geniuses... but I don't think the game is really completely fair unless we are getting the same questions on the same day.

I'd bring my rich shortbread cookies, crispy peanut butter cookies, and coconut macaroons. Those are my favorite to make... and eat. See how I twisted it there? Just being lighthearted. It really shouldn't be so staid as to have rules. It's the kind of place for fuzzy slippers and kicked up feet on the coffee table. Sit back, relax, and regale me. I'll serve you up some coffee or a glass of wine, depending on the time of day.

On a side note, if any of you have Firefox you can download an add-on called Adblock Plus and it will get rid of almost all of the annoying and distracting ads on the websites you visit. I don't see any of those ads that slowly slide across the page or, well, any ads at all now that I think about it. It has made my time on the computer much more enjoyable!

I don't see either. After I reformatted I did all the right things, but still had trouble with the Text ads, but now they are gone.

It isn't just KT; other GW forums I visited are the same.

What I see is just a space below the message box, then a link to Return to Kitchen Table Forum; more empty space and a Click here about in-text info.

Lots of wasted empty space. I guess it is one of those "enhancements?"

Since it costs zero to be a member and post here, I would guess that funds have to become available somehow to pay for the hosting. I don't think the new ads are objectionable. I sure like them better than the links from words.

Jen after you install FF, do a search for Ricks easy list, download and install it. It will go where it is suppose to go and will stop a lot of ads. You can even block pictures or any ads by right clicking on the ad/picture and then clicking on something in the next menu, ad filter I think. Not the pictures poster post, but the ones on pages like this one. The only ads I see are the green text on the right side of this page, they are no problem.

Oh, they are there OJ!
Firefox freezes on me, so I use Chrome most of the time.
I guess Chrome doesn't stop all of the ads.

Vicki, thank you! I downloaded Adblock Plus, and the ads are gone. I then clicked below re: in text links. Opted out of those, and they're gone as well. I can feel my blood pressure going down already!!!

Jasdip, if you are having a problem with Firefox, go over to CompHelp and let them help you. You will need to give them all the info on your PC as to make, etc and exactly what the problem is,.

Firefox is such a great browser, with so many add-ons to choose from. I have not tried Chrome so I can't comment on that.
