AGT surprises??

The first two brought out had me worried since both were in my final four. But I'm glad Poppycock went thru. He was my choice of those two. That was my only loss. I predicted the rest. I didn't think Michael Grimm would go thru, but I like him a lot. My final two are Jackie and Poppycock. I think Jackie is the sweetest most talented child I have ever heard, and I adore Poppycock and his imagination and voice. He puts on a great show, and I think he might win it all.

Like you, I was hoping for Michael Grasso to get further. He was in my final 4. I was surprised to see him go in the first round.

I'm glad Michael Grimm went through. I love his voice. Even if he doesn't win (and I doubt he will), he'll have a recording company hook up with him in no time, I'm positive.

I don't think Jackie should be there. Number 1, she's far too young for a regular Vegas show. Plus, she's already making money and singing in professional venues. She shouldn't even be there, except for the wow factor.

Poppycock, he's a perfect Vegas show. I didn't like his music the other night, but his costumes are dynamite.

DH walked out as soon as PPC got it. Then those singers did it for me with the foul language in their song, What has happen to America???! I didn't like the way they did Jeremy and the 2 girls either, build them up for a let down. I wanted M. Grasso to win it.

Well, I am happy! ! ! Sal is going through! And frankly, if he didn't make it, I would be seriously concerned about what's happening to America. Even if he doesn't win the whole thing, someone, somewhere, is going to latch on to him, he will be going places ! ! Lindsey, looks like we think a lot alike. :>) Actually, I never have seen what everyone else seems to see in Grace V. I was shocked when Howie gave her the Golden Buzzer the first night. I have never been able to understand anything she is singing, her voice just sounds so thin and reedy to me. And her words are unintelligible to my ears. Figure people must be going on her song writing talents, she doesn't seem to have any singing talent, in my opinion, anyway. Wish she would cover a well known song. I was really surprised that Tape Face made it through. Yes, he's kind of funny. But he's also weird and kind of creepy, especially his eyes. I always have to look away when they show his face. Last night's performance was not the best that Musicality has done. And AGT, or whoever designs the sets for the acts, did them a great disservice last night. All the stripes and lights and shadows was too distracting. I love to watch their coach, his expressions are just so cute, for lack of a better word. He always looks so genuinely happy! He truly cares about those kids. One more week of semi-finals, then the finals. Seems like this year's talent is better than ever, but then, it seems that way every year. Rusty

I just watched the finals and have not yet seen the results, but I gather from the discussion that Grace won. Good for her, but I would rather have seen the Clairvoyants win. Grace's songs were poignant and relevant to today's youth, much like the songs from the late 1950s, except those were written by adults. She is like Taylor Swift in that regard. Her voice is different, but she can carry the tunes, so she'll be fine. Laura Breton screwed herself in singing one of the most tragic songs ever written with a huge joyous smile and lolapalooza last note. When sung properly, even this song in Italian should leave non Italian speakers (and sometimes the performer) in tears. If you're not familiar with O Mio Babbino Caro, the singer is telling her father that she's going away to find her lover and if she cannot marry him, she's going to jump in the river and kill herself. The last lines are "father have pity on me" sung twice and NEVER with enthusiasm. This is not to disparage her vocal talent. She'll get plenty of work, but this performance definitely changed the way I saw her. If she knew what she was singing about, she would have done it differently. If you want to see it sung like it's supposed to, check out Sissel on YouTube. Victor Kee is a less skilled version of Michael Moschen from the 1990s. Check out what Moschen can do with his crystal balls and bouncing balls in the triangle on YouTube. Sal Valentinetti absolutely killed it in the finale. He won't have to deliver pizza for long. I can't listen to that genre of music for long but he killed it. Linkin' Bridge did the same. They're the first good thing to come out of Chicago since forever. Sofie Dossi is cute and flexible but all she does is handstands and neck hangs. Her cleverest trick was shooting an arrow with her feet. That's slick, but I think I see why there's no National League of Professional Handstanders. The Clairvoyants do a mentalist act. It's a version of magic with secrets all their own. They do it VERY well and are so charismatic.

LOL Raven, I agree about Mel B. Tyra had a couple of outfits that were almost as bad. And about Darci Lynne's abilities, too. Terry Fator, look out! ! Graywings, that was Preacher Lawson, a comedian. He was good, but not THAT good, and he knows it. I like to think that many of the acts get picked up by various shows. And hopefully they are able to gain success in show business, if that's what hey really want. Last night I saw a video clip of Darci Lynne on Facebook, of an interview she did with Entertainment Tonight. I'm not at all familiar with that program, or its host, but I am amazed at how well she presents herself! Very intelligent, self confident and relaxed, but not at all 'show-offy' (for lack of a better term). Rusty

"I read somewhere that the winner gets $20,000 a year for 40 years." That would equal $800,000. "I think he got a lot of sympathy votes." Not a popular opinion, I'm sure, but I feel the same way. I also think that Ryan Niemiller got a lot of sympathy votes. I thought Ryan's first performance/audition was really funny, but I thought his performance in the finals relied too heavily on his "disabilities." If you're funny, you're funny no matter what you look like. Yes, you can incorporate jokes about any condition you may have, but his final performance was, to me, somewhat forced. There were others who, in my opinion, should have been in the final five instead of Ryan. By the way, when Kodi sang You Are The Reason in the semi-finals, I had never before heard the song, and when he first started singing, I thought it sounded like it could be an Ed Sheeran song. As soon as the show was over, I did a search, and found out the song is by Calum Scott -- he apparently sang it on Britain's Got Talent. Anyway, I do like Calum's version better, and I bought it and listen to it a lot. Kodi, to his credit, did use the same arrangement.

Well, just the fact that someone is making money from their talent isn't a disqualification. Almost ALL of them have been working professionally before they get to this level. Do you think Michael Grasso has just been playing around with magic in his bedroom before? The bike rider has been doing fairs, etc. Many of them have been singing in coffee shops--sometimes that's paid, sometimes it's for free. Was it Grimm who has already recorded a record?

However, I do agree that I really hope Jackie doesn't win. She's absolutely my favorite performer of this year's bunch, but I hate to think of the price she's going to pay if she wins. But then, that ship has probably already sailed--as Sharon has said, her life is going to change whether she wins or not. And if I had to guess, she IS going to win. With this being the first year of internet auditions, and the fuss they've been making about them, I imagine she's already been chosen the winner. Votes really don't count in these shows, as we all know from AI.

As to surprises last night? I was surprised they put 3 singers through. I thought it would be 2 singers and then 2 of the variety acts--maybe Grasso or the dance troupe along with Defying Gravity.

Nope...not surprised. My DH was. :0) I can't imagine buying an album or seeing those acts in Vegas......but they're ALL very talented.

Foul language in the songs....I missed that part?

I hope, for several reasons, that Jackie doesn't win.

As for Michael Grimm, singers like him and Taylor are a dime a dozen; I thought Taylor had the best personality, and Michael's clothes, especially the hat, turned me off.

I guess I just happen to like a good magician, so I was hoping for Grasso to go on.

The singers with the foul language...I can never understand/hear any of the young singers, so I missed that,too. But foul language is becoming so commonplace now it makes me ill.

I just hope Poppycock is the winner.

I hope that either Poppycock or Defying Gravity wins. I love the ingenuity of them both and would pay to see eiher of them the next time we are in Vegas. I was very disappointed that Grasso did not make it thru but I would bet his phone was ringing this morning.
