And it's not getting better this week.

Will hit the pool, for water aerobics at 9:30, and plan to stay cool rest of the day.

Stay cool, ya'll!

I wish, I couldn't beat you, but it is 10:07 here now, and it is 92 degrees.

Way to hot. I hope, my AC keeps going.

Jeff, I miss your beautiful flowers and photos!!!! I keep checking back at the Rose Gallery for your latest, but can't find you alas! I want to stalk again, hee-hee! maryl, I had to laugh, because I too am a midnight owl person, yet still! dragged myself out of bed at 6:00 a.m. in the morning with only 3 hours of sleep, but by 7:45 a.m. I had to stop working in the garden because it was getting to be way too muggy even then! So I crawled back to bed to take a brief snooze...By the time I woke up again, I felt as though I had been hit by a train. I was so groggy and tired. And I still tortured myself with 5 minutes-at-a-time deadheading and checking out my flowers leaves and herbs, then racing back to the shelter of my house...Poor Eluane, she's got long fur, but because she is a busy-body sheepherding Border Collie, she always wants to check up on what I'm doing...she's even more of a masochist than her Mama! and will follow me faithfully out to the garden Every Single Time. And for the rest of our week it will be: 98, 97, 96,97,95 and hurray, a breakthrough turning point of ...91 on Sunday...But I'm sure 91 is nothing compared to the 100s of late July that I'm expecting.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day so far this year at close to 100. I work midnights and sleep mornings if I'm not babysitting the grandson. I usually go out once I wake up and have a caffine shot for energy. Today was so hot that I waited until after 4 pm before I could make myself go out. I roll up a bandanna, wet it, and tie it up around my face and slide it up into the edge of my hair to keep the sweat out of my eyes. I sometimes roll one up, wet it, and tie it around my neck also to help keep me cooler. I want to plant more trees closer to the house to help lower the temp. The drought is really hurting everything. The grass is crispy; the veggie garden is hanging on with soaker hoses; the trees, flowers, and shrubs are hanging in with hand watering. Since we just moved to this place last April (to be closer to the grandkids) most everything is brand new and isn't deep rooted enough to handle such prolonged drought without extra watering. DH is starting to worry about the well since rain has been almost nonexistent this summer. But, I can't bear to see everything drooping. So I water and pray at the same time. We are going on vacation next week and I intend to drive home midweek to water. We are going to mulch deeply and give everything a deep watering the day we leave. Before next year I want to lay soaker hoses and put them on timers. But, I still handle the heat better than I can deal with the bugs. They eat me alive. I even had a fly worry me to death while I was trying to water tonight for Pete's sake!! Can't use bug repellant due to allergies. Still, all things considered, I'm a blessed person and love love love my garden. It is worth all of the blood, sweat, and tears!! Ah, the dreams I have. So many of y'all have such awesome gardens and I drool all over the screen while I'm dreaming and planning. Thanks for posting all of those before, during, and finished pics. That's what keeps me going. Betty

"Tain't hot here - about 70! And there's talk of the temp going down to about 34 F. tonight - frost warning in effect. With all of that stuff rather small in my garden ... I don't like that story much. But feeling less guilty about having been rather late in planting some of the seeds - meaning that the sprouts haven't yet stuck their noses above ground. ole joyful

it's always like a heat wave in orlando LOL but that's our normal :-) going to mid 90's today, humidity near 99% (as usual). last summer we set a heat record, 110 days straight at 90 or above then last winter set record cold with both lowest temps ever recorded and longest length of time at record cold. i was sure we were in for a record summer after a hot spring but it's been pretty normal thou a bit dry. norms right now are 94/77 for 2 more months then we trend down :-) the other evening i put a hygrometer from inside the house out on the lanai, it shot up to 99% humidity in a minute LOL brought it back inside after 15 minutes and it went down to 65% LOL that's dry for us :-) it had not even rained that day! ~ liz

It was 108ð here yesterday. Normally we'd be able to cool off in the lake...but due to the terrible drought, the lake is nearing 5 feet low. Sad what's happening throughout Texas with such high temps and no rain.

Texas and Oklahoma are both in very bad shape. Has it affected the water used for household use? We had a summer like that in 2006 and had just sold our house when the well went dry. Had to replace the pump and the well. Ick! Sure hope both states get lots of rain soon.

It's a normal summer day here--mid 90's during the day and mid-70's a night. We've been getting rain the last few days and a tropical storm is heading our way come Saturday. Hope we get a lot of rain from it. We need it.

Sure wish we could send you some of our water from ND. Still houses with water, though the river has gone down. It is 73 here with a nice breeze blowing . Will keep all of you in my thoughts for cooler weather.

The interesting fact is, Minnesota and North Dakota have LOTS of water, Oklahoma and Texas have a drought.

My sis in Germany turned her heater on, and is wearing a sweat shirt jacket, while here in Oklahoma it is sooo hot, you can't touch metal outside, it burns you.

Extremes all over the world!

It was in the mid 90's today. I played golf and it was fairly pleasant. There was a nice breeze most of the day. Tomorrow, however, it's suppose to be in the upper 90's with a heat index bringing it to 105 - 110. Our golf group decided to cancel for the day.

It's 104 in Tulsa at 10:30 pm. Not sure how hot it got today. Dh saw 112 and it was supposed to get hotter than that. Lots of fires today. We could see a huge one from the neighborhood. Several people lost their houses.

I'm in Wisconsin and while it been soupy hot here, we've had lots of rain. We've had so much rain that I now have waterfront property, lol. Seriously though, there is nothing worse than a drought and hot, hot weather. I hope you get lots of moisture soon. Our lakes are finally back up to where they're supposed to be. We have had dryer than normal years lately and the lakes and rivers were down. While I'm a bit sick of all the rain we've had, I'm glad that we got it this year.

BTW - the humidty has dropped and it's down to 67 while I type this. Very nice if I do say so myself.
