I have some lovely crystal and sterling silver wine glasses for serving, big fat comfy cushions to sit on (not as far a fall to the floor if we tend to imbibe a bit much) and fruit slices to go well with the wine and cheese and crackers.!

I very rarely serve any of my homemade wines or mead before 2 years of aging. I have to make 3 or 4 batches a year to keep up with the demand. LOL

I used 6 + lbs of grapes,4 cups sugar,2 pks of yeast and 2 gal of water.Let it sit for 20 days. It's pretty good!

I got my very first wine recipe from my high school science teacher when I was a freshman in the senior science class. (40 years ago next month)When I poured it off the first time I felt like a mad scientist rather than a moonshiner. In a dark cornered cement block wall, copper wire stung bright lights room in the basement. Similar to a scene from Frankenstein LOL It was some AWSOME wine for my first time. I stripped one of the sweet cherry trees in my Mom and Dads yard. Got a excrement-load of punishment but enough juice to make 10 gal of cherry wine and used 3 gal of honey instead of sugar and 1 TBspoon +1 tsp of brewers yeast per gal liquid. After 30 days of fermenting it was more like a brandy or liquor. 1&1/2 years later most of it became gifts for relatives the following Christmas. My Mom who was not drinker or teetotaler got pretty toasted on about 4 oz. & broke her toe stumbling into the kitchen table leg. She took the recipe and would not give it back. To this day I have not been able to duplicate that first homemade Cherry wine.

My husband's late uncle grew his own grapes and made his own wine, it was wonderful!

I was wondering how it would turn out and am happy you had a good result. Sounds like a fun project!

I bottled it in some Boones Fsrm bottles I had kept...who knows why I kept them! LOL! The one site I went to said you can keep it in empty milk cartone so I figured these bottles would be ok. It was fun! Now I want to make more...but I'd never drink it all!

I would love to make my own....is yours sweet or dry? I am a dry one! Also what website did you go to and where is the pic of your wine? sTacy

I guess you'd call it a sweet wine Stacy...not sure.I don't actually drink much wine.I know I don't like the dark,bitter ones.Are they the dry ones? This tastes sorta like some wine I bought in a box once...the pinkish colored one.
I googled"homemade wine" and got tons of sites.I'm not even sure which site I used,I wrote the recipe down and closed the window! They seem to all basically be the same.Water,yeast,sugar,fruit.Then let sit and ferment til the gas is gone from it.Then you strain it through cheesecloth.I got that at WalMart in the craft section.straining it is a pain in the butt! LOL!
Maybe for the dry,you'd use less sugar? Not sure.
