How about a coffee mug from a specialty gift shop with Friends, etc on it?

Thank you, that is a really great idea because I still have her fourth grade picture, at least I hope I do. I will have to pull out the old photos. I will have to go to the Mall and have one of those shops put her picture on it if they can still do that with an old photo. That is if I can still find it. What an awesome idea. Thanks again. U can go to Kinko's and they will put the picture on the mug for you.

or have the pix reproduced and framed...are you close to the school you attended? how about snaps of it, the downtown area and parks, houses you lived in...that was the first thing my dd did when she and her dh went back to where we used to live...

I hope it turns out well. I met my best friend in school a few years ago and found her to be very bitter and angry.

Glenda, I just spent the last hour looking through this big bucket of photos and found her picture. I can't believe it. The picture is only a 1 x 2 photo and is still in good shape. From 1966. Perfect idea, I am going to do that but would love other ideas.

vala55, she isn't angry or bitter at all, she can't wait to see me again. She has some health problems and from the communication that we have had she said she is happy with her life. It hasn't been an easy one for her but she really does sound happy. I will let you know how it turns out. We will be meeting at a fair. I bet I will be able to pick her out of the crowd. I have been known to never forget a face.

susanif, another great idea, I will go down the street and take a picture of the house she lived in and the school that we went to. These are all thing I can do since I now live in the house that I grew up in. I will take pictures of the things that we knew.

How VERY exciting!! Thanks to the internet, I have been able to get in contact with many old friends. There are only 3 more that I am still trying to find.

I love the idea of a coffee mug with her picture. If I were you, I would try to find a picture of you at about the same age that she was in the picture that you have of her. I would have both pictures put on the mug and then the word Friends somewhere in the middle. Or maybe get a current picture of her off of her Facebook page and use a current picture of you, and put the current pictures on one side of the mug and the older pictures on the other. Or have a nice quote put on the mug. Something like "The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart." Or "true friends can pick up right where they left off"

I can't blame you for being excited. How wonderful to be reunited with an old friend. I'm sorry not to have a gift suggestion. I just wanted to tell you I'm happy for you, and her also.
I tried to locate my best friend from school days, who also was a bridesmaid in my wedding. I really wanted to locate her for our 50th anniversary party. My late daughter-in-law worked in the records dept of a city near us, at the time and was finally able to find where she lived, but sadly, she had recently passed away. I hope she & I will have that reunion at a 'later date'

The same thing basically has happened to me although we haven't arranged to meet yet. I got an email that said....Hi my name is------------are you the Ruthie that dated my brother --------- back in the 50's........

Wow what fun it is to be getting reacquainted even if it is just email now. I'm in TX and she's in AR.

At least you know what she looks like NOW. I hadn't seen two cousins since we were little kids. I was to meet them outside the hotel where I was staying. Two short, middle-aged women kept getting in my line of sight as I was looking down the street for my cousins. I didn't realize THEY were my cousins until they said, "Hello, Sue!"

They had some family photos of all of us together that I had never seen before and gave me one of them in a frame.
