If you can spare a prayer, my dad is back in the hospital again with congestive heart failure. This afternoon he was teasing his nurses. Tonight he didn't even have the energy for that.

I wish you luck. Most interviewers are looking for a LIKEABLE person (which you are), and a team player (check), and one who can shoulder responsibility (check) and who can *lead*. I don't know your leadership qualities, but I'd guess they are also...check! Remember, you may not get the gold ring on the first go-round, but people will remember how you presented yourself. What does the school want in a dean? What would you do to be effective in the position?

Yes this is a nightmare of a situation to be in. The waiting and not really knowing what you are facing must be especially difficult. You will be in my thoughts.
