Wanted comfort food, being as I have been puny and didn't feel really like eating.

Waffle House: scrambled cheese eggs, dry grits, sausage, raisin bread with apple butter.

Finishing up in the kitchen snacks for church: chile cheese squares, sour cream biscuit muffins, marinated cheese crackers and hard salami cut into bite size pieces.

They should enjoy, plus my friend is making pound cake for the sweet.

Had a fun day running here and there today. My supper was just french toast I had frozen earlier this week. Pretty day out again, but dry in this area.

Glenda, I'm glad you are feeling good enough to go ahead with your cooking plans. I'm sure they will be appreciated tomorrow. I think I need raisin bread with apple butter!!

Sue, did you fry/bake your French toast before you froze it? I'd like to try that but thought maybe you had to "egg" it and put it on a cookie sheet to freeze and then bag it up until you needed it. Either way, it sounds yummy with lots of butter and syrup!!

Not a good day today. When I went for my pre-surgery testing, the Dr said I had to stop my arthritis pills (Celebrex) & my hormone replacement pills. The only thing I am allowed to take is my BP pills. 3 days later the hot flashes & arthritis have gotten to me. Going cold turkey is not good but had to be done.

Dinner was spaghetti & meatballs. For dessert it was tiramisu. Just wanted to stay busy.

We had a fabulous day for my mother's 91 birthday party, she ate so much cake and kept saying it was the most wonderful birthday ever. Lots of generations of the family were there. Just perfect. So tonight I picked up some fresh made hot boudin, fresh made cracklins, and a package of smoked sausage they had just taken out of the smoker, can't get much fresher or better. That meat market made me want to get a big ice chest and load it up with all the fabulous products they have.
I'm happy happy happy! Lol

I'd done some cooking yesterday and today so had some of this and some of that.......chicken corn chowder, a meatball with tad bit of chicken gravy, and a little cracker dressing.

Patti, I just froze the fried French toast, slipped the halves in sandwich bags and froze them. I put them in my toaster and heat them up.

DH had his spaghetti and meatballs from the restaurant yesterday. I played in a golf tournament today and they served hamburgers afterward so I just had some Havarti cheese with herbs and baked in puff pastry...had it with apple slices. (It was left over from Wine and Cheese Wednesday night.) I enjoyed it.......it hit the spot.

Tomorrow is the second day of the tournament.

Mary, for not feeling well, you sure can cook a good meal! :-) Soon the surgery will be over and hopefully you will feel so much better. I'm fine--just restless like I should be doing something (like cleaning the house).

Raven, I'm so glad your mother enjoyed her party so much. It sounds like a wonderful family affair and I bet you had great food, too. What is hot boudin? Your description at the meat market made me want to grab a cooler and head west!!

Shirley, it's nice you can cook a few times and get so many meals from your efforts. I ask Harry for suggestions for this coming week's menu and he always says the same thing--"I don't know". Well, he'll know next week because we're eating out of the freezer all week. Needs it anyway, but I sure wish he'd give me a clue once in a while.

We had sauteed peppers & cabbage with kielbasa. DH cooked, which he hasn't been doing much lately. He worked from home all day on some big projects for work; I cleaned house.

Nothing like boudin ! It is spicy cooked rice with cooked meats, onions, green onions, herbs and spices all mixed up then forced into a sausage casing. You can find boudin from gas stations to grocery stores to specialty meat markets and restaurants. Each one is a little different, it comes in hot spice or regular, all of it is spicy.
Here's a good link all about boudin and some of the absolute best spots to get it. I have eaten at several of them. I always get some fresh made boudin when I am here. If you have the chance to eat some hot boudin do it.

Wah! Now I want to try some boudin and I don't think we have it where I live!

Well many of those places will ship it to you.
I used to buy up a bunch of the frozen boudin, the store will pack it up with dry ice in a little Styrofoam chest and have it all ready to go . Now I am able to get boudin in Houston but it is not quite the same. I don't recommend trying the blood boudin however lol.
We love boudin and fried eggs for breakfast. A lot of people put it on the grill which is good I usually just heat it in the microwave wrapped up in wet paper towel.
