how would you go about this?

I have recently returned to the working (or at least salaried, lol) world, after 20 years as a S.A.H.M to my 3 kids. The youngest is in high school now. I took a job in May at a Daycare Center. When I was hired, they stated I would be paid X amount per hour for the position of Assistant Supervisor.

I found out that the company has just hired some new Assistant Supervisors at $2.00 more an hour than what those hired back in May are being paid. There is no difference in our experience or skills, but the company has a rather high turn over rate (no doubt due to the low wages) and lost some of their Assistants over the summer, so they are apparently hiring new staff at a higher wage in hopes of keeping them.

Naturally I want to receive the same wages as the newly hired Assistant Supervisors, but I don't know how to go about asking for a raise after only 3 months employment without revealing that I was tipped off about the new rates by an acquaintance in Head Office. Obviously I will not say anything to jeopardize that person's position. How would you phrase the wording of your letter?
