You can do this many ways. Most photo editing and viewing programs have an option to "Save As" and then choose the format. If you have software for your digital camera, or a free program like Irfanview, etc., or Microsoft Picture Viewer, you should be able to save it as a .jpeg. Just save it as a .gif, right click on the saved file, select "Open with," and choose from the programs that come up. Once it's opened in the program, go to "File" and then "Save As" and choose the format from the dropdown box. If you don't have any programs that do that, download Irfanview.

If you save it as anything other than gif I do believe you will lose the transparency of the image. Why not save as a gif?

owbist...I wanted to print the picture. If I save it as a transparent gif it won't print....now, that's not saying I'm not doing something wrong when I try this. I'll try putting it in PSP and saving it as a .jpeg and see what happens. I "think" I did try this, but I can't remember for sure. But..it shows up blank when I "save as" from the website where it is located.

Air is transparent, but I don't think i can get a clear enough picture of it for a print out.

Okay....I've tried Irfanview and PSP 7 and when I try to save them to these places, they show up blank. Mikie...these are pictures from my grandson's teacher's website. I am making him an album of his school years and wanted some pictures she has there. She has a template that she drops the pictures into for the site, and they are there as transparent gifs. There are tutorials on "making" transparent gifs, but I could find no place that told me how to print them from a website. Thank you, Mikie...I've never tried printing air :o)

Owbist..the only other option it shows me for saving it is .bmp and it comes up blank when I do that also....

Try this. Bring the web page up, then click 'Print Screen' and you have captured the image. Now open Irfanview, Paint, PSP7 or what ever and paste the image from your clipboard into the program, cut out the part you want and save that. How's that, any better?

Maybe if you could provide a link to one of these someone could help. I just download transparent gif's from two different sites, opened them in irfanview and saved them as jpg's and they worked just like other images.

I used to put transparent gif's infront of real pictures on websites so people could not easily steal the pictures ... if they steal the pic, soon they would find out they actually downloaded a 'transparent.gif that was sitting ontop of the picture, but not the picture.

That used to be a pretty standard practice.

mikie...I don't think that is the case here...she doesn't care and she just used the template she had for her website.

Owbist...I never thought of that...I use print screen quite often and it didn't occur to me to use it in this case....that would work nicely...thank you very much.

Wow!!! I just did a print screen and cropped the picture and printed it and it printed out beautifully!
