What's for dinner Thursday?

We're having taco salad tonight. I'm just being a copycat since that's what Georgysmom had last night. Sounded good then and it sounds good now. Thanks, GM!

Time to get out of my place for a while after staying home most of the day yesterday.

So I ventured over to my favorite place, Jubilee Joe's for my usual: First, a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo, no rice, then they brought me the awesomely great cup of cajun crab bisque.

I just got home from golf. We left at 8:00 this morning so it was a long day. Today was my "Play Away group", so we went to an away course. We had a nice lunch and they surprised me with a birthday cake (my birthday is not until Sunday). I watched the waitress come out with the cake and I said aah, isn't that nice, not realizing it was for me. I never connected the two. Anyway, I don't know what's for dinner. There's enough meat mixture for DH to have taco salad again tonight so that's what I'll probably do and just have a small salad or an Activia.

I made the recipe in the below link and it was pretty awesome, but then it's kind of hard to go wrong when that much cream is involved. And a not inconsiderable amount of butter as well. Here is a link that might be useful: Creamy chicken and mushrooms

Lots of variety for dinner this evening! Shirley, I love days that have no interruptions. Even days that I plan to stay home and get caught up on things, there are usually reasons to head out or someone comes over. Stuffed peppers sure sound good! Pam a BLT is good anytime. That's usually what hubby orders when we go out for breakfast (he doesn't do eggs) Angela we had corn on the cob on the weekend and nuked it with the husks on. Have you tried that? OF we were in a store today and the Halloween stuff was out along with back-to-school supplies. Rhizo, I love the sound of your dinner every time you have that! B.e. peas I doubt I would like but that would be easy to leave out. I remember you said once it was a mix that you buy. Phyllis, eating frozen grapes made me smile, then I saw the radish sandwich. I feel sorry for you LOL. Maybe we should all send you a bit of our dinners, and you'd have a feast! KIttiemom, everytime I see you having shrimp scampi I want it. But we never buy shrimp. I'm going to have to just buy a bag of frozen ones once and for all and make it. :)

This won't be the healthiest dinner posted, but I've had about 30 interruptions today and I don't even have sheets back on the bed from this mornings laundry yet. Just sat down to do DH's invoicing, I'm having two Tylenol and a glass of iced tea. Asked DH, would you like bacon, toast and eggs, or do you want to grill hamburgers for us, and he said bacon and eggs ;)

Jasdip, we put a big pork butt on the grill over the weekend and enjoyed it with a pile of slaw. It's a full day commitment but seemed like a good Labor Day weekend project. Last night, I made a garlicky, gingery chicken stir fry with lots of fresh vegetables, served with brown rice and toasted almonds. I don't know why I don't make something like that more often, it's a favorite.

Taco salad. After the first meal of taco salad Monday(?), I froze indiv.containers of the taco meat with some tomatoes and nuke them whenever I want taco salad again. I have a notion to make a double batch of taco meat/tomatoes and freeze servings for meals this winter. Too bad I can't add the lettuce and corn chips too. :) Or can I? the tortilla chips at least? I know they would be soggy but taste the same?

I've been kind of wanting taco salad as well, but we don't have the lettuce or the taco shells or the sour cream. When I buy it next, we'll definitely have it.

I've got some veggies to use up so I'm making a big stir-fry with leftover frozen rice. It's so handy having rice in the freezer.

I have no idea what's for dinner tonight. DH didn't discuss it with me, but since I don't have to do the cooking, I'm gonna bet it will taste awesome.

Today was our day to go out and treat ourselves. We've been trying to do that once a week since DH retired. Went for a nice ride, hit some farm supply stores, farm markets, one of the Amish markets. Had lunch at Cracker Barrel.

So dinner was simple--BLT's Amish bacon, fresh farm market Jersey tomatoes and lettuce on Amish whole wheat bread.

Left-over scalloped potatoes and left-over swiss steak...for the third evening. Some refrigerator cucumbers, too, no doubt.

Today I made homemade chicken pot pie which my husband loves. I made chicken salad for myself.

This has been another day of running around, this time with oldest daughter, Cheryl. She bought my lunch at Bob Evan's. I had the spaghetti with garlic toast. Had fun today but I am tired. Since lunch was so late, no supper for me.

I am just slap worn out, I had to go shopping alone which I rarely do anymore and it put the hurt on me.
We are gearing up for our first RV trip to see my mom for her 90th birthday party. This will be an experience.

So I picked up some big deli sub sandwiches for an easy dinner.
I may be missing for a while depending on wifi access.

Tonight we are having kielbasa, mashed potatoes and corn.

Raven, have a wonderful time camping. I will be waiting to hear how it went.

Glenda, are the workers finished with your doors/windows? We sure would like pix when you get everything back in order again.

Georgysmom, I think you got us all in the mood for taco salad after your post last night. I actually made my life easier and pulled some bean soup from the freezer. I am so lazy today!!!

Schoolhouse, what a great idea. You could fill muffin cups with the taco mix and freeze into individual servings, then store in a freezer bag. I will be making taco salad sometime this week and I'll make enough to do this myself.

Jasdip, I try to keep cooked rice in the freezer, too. It freezes beautifully and sure saves a lot of time. I usually make a "batch" and seal it in portions of 1 and 2 cups.

Donna_Loomis, that you for the inside out ravioli recipe in case you did see I responded to your last night's message. You are a lucky person to have your DH cook for you. Sigh! Harry used to be when we retired he took off he apron, darn it!

Azzalea, hope you two keep up having your weekly fun lunch. Your afternoon sounds like so much fun!

Swiss steak--OMG, Phyllis--my favorite since I was a kid. Of course back then, we had our own beef in the freezer, but I still consider Swiss steak a special meal. Enjoy!!

Mary, don't you like chicken pot pie? Nice of you to make it especially for your DH. Poor Harry would've had chicken salad :0
