Probably another salad or maybe cottage cheese and fruit...trying to lose some weight. So far I'm doing pretty good.

The DGS's are here and want taco's and corn on the cob. So that will be our meal! Whatever their little heart desires is fine with me.

We had rib eye steaks, oven fried chicken, green beans, corn, peas, baked beans, cheese potatoes, coleslaw, potato salad, cucumber salad, Grands biscuits, cantaloupe, grapes, sugar cream pie, peanut butter cookies, fudge cake and a special strawberry layer cake. Plus three flavors of ice cream. To drink we had lemonade, iced tea, water and all kinds of pop. No supper here.

Spinach Salad with Homemade Beef Stroganoff and I'm about to dive in.

Baked tilapia, steamed broccoli and a green salad.

I made swiss steak, but it is too hot to turn on the oven, so I cooked all day in the slo-cooker. Served it over mashed potatoes with buttered broccoli. It was soooo good and tender.

Roast chicken, mashed taters, and corn, YUMMO!

I have some tri-tip marinating and when grilled, I'm going to slice it and put it on a salad. Romaine and radicchio lettuce, celery, red onion, vine ripened tomatoes, avocado and cucumber. Dressing of choice......I've been craving this for a week. A steak salad Yummmmm.

Father in law picked up crabs and shrimp at the seafood market! I don't pick crabs, so I feasted on the steamed spiced shrimp YUM!

Does everyone here know what Old Bay is?

teresava.....no? Old Bay?

Yes I do and have been using it when I remember it.

Here is a link that might be useful: Old Bay Seasoning

I thought everyone knew what Old Bay seasoning was , but MIL said outside of DC Metro area (VA/MD/DC) it's not really known. Bay as in Chesapeake Bay.

Awesome spice blend we use on seafood: crabs, shrimp etc. In the stores you can even find potato chips and side dishes with it too.

TACOS!!! DS has been wanting them ever since he came home from the hospital.DD and DGS are leaving in the morning to go back to OK so I figured I'd make them tonight while everyone is still here. Also made Thunder and Lightning to go with them.I lucked out.Future DDIL is frying them for me so I'm sitting here smelling them and getting very hungry!

For dinner tonight we had FISH (cod loins) RED POTATOES fried, GREEN BEANS, fresh CORN, (actually it was fresh last night when I browned it on the grill) little grape TOMATOES, CUCUMBER slices. WOW! I seldon end up with such a colorful plate!

Tonight we had hash made from a roast we had a few days ago with Italian bread to sop up the gravy.

Lilliepad, what's Thunder and Lightning?

Teresava, I thought everybody knew about Old Bay. We use it to boil shrimp or crabs and it's even good added to a pasta salad.

patti43-It's a salsa I make.Have made it for years and my family loves it as a condiment on the tacos or just for chips and dippin'.
Thunder and Lightning
1 large can diced tomatoes with juice
1 medium yellow onion
1 small Jalepeno pepper
1 or 2 cloves of garlic or 1 tsp. garlic powder
salt to taste
1 tsp black pepper
2 or 3 Tbsp.lemon juice or white vinegar.I usually use vinegar.
Peel and dice the onion in large chunks.Seed the pepper, remove the white membranes and cut into pieces.I usually start with just half a small pepper then add more according to the anmount of heat I want. Some Jalepenos are hotter than others so you have to be careful.I use jarred peppers if I don't have a fresh one.
Put all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pulse until everything is chopped to the consistency you desire. This will keep a couple of weeks in a tightly closed container or jar in the fridge. It never lasts that long around here.
By the way,the tacos were good!
