I got a job!!!!!

Thanks for all the good thoughts for me. It's finally paid off!!! Today has been a wild ride with two companies competing for me! Geesh ... the one that won out is just a 5 minute commute away and I was able to negotiate a decent starting salary and early quitting time on Fridays. LOL!!! I don't know my actual start date yet but believe it will be next week. They asked me to take myself off the market immediately and I agreed to that if they would email their offer immediately which they did. So I am officially done job hunting! Thank goodness. These past few months have been stressful.

Great news!! So pleased for you!! ps... if you need boxes for moving... try at a dollar store.. and end rolls of news print from a local newspaper is cheap or free [and free of ink!]... Can't wait for details after you start!!

You guys are so nice. Tami, good to know cat litter can be used like that. I almost always have a few small bags of it in the car -- only because I usually buy it in quantity and I tend to be lazy about unloading all of it. Kathleen, I was thinking about "cold feet" just this morning. I don't remember such resistance to change when I was young. This change--my new job--is definitely for the better. Not only do I need the money, but I'm aware that I also need more contact with people. Although I love the idea of living and writing in my old farmhouse, and do pretty well by myself, too much isolation isn't good for me. So you'd think I'd have no anxiety whatsoever about going back to work. Ha! Sad to say, I guess it's true that as we get older we find it harder to change our ways. Foggy, my son lives only four miles away, so I could call on him to take the dogs out. I could also call on him to come pull me out of a snowbank. :-)

Yay, Betsy, I'm so happy for you. I've forgotten what it is you do, though, if you want to remind me I'd appreciate it, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Flamey, I do accounting and this position involves auditing.

As for celebrating - I think a glass or two of wine is in order! Want to clink your glass to mine? :) Maybe I should start now. Yea, good idea, Flamey!!!

Congratulations Betsy! The pickings are slim down here. I went for a waitress position (new restaurant)there were 140 positions. 4000 people showed up. I didn't get hired.

Marion, I know what you mean. Every place that I've interviewed with has told me how they have been bombarded with resumes/applications. We had a new Target store open here and they had a hiring fair at a local hotel. Holy cow, the line went down the street for blocks. Looked like people waiting to buy tickets for a concert or something. And those were part time minimum wage jobs. You can just imagine how some of the people looked by the time they got indoors to the AC!

I feel very fortunate to have found something and I will do everything in my power to keep it.
