I got a job!!!!!

Thanks for all the good thoughts for me. It's finally paid off!!! Today has been a wild ride with two companies competing for me! Geesh ... the one that won out is just a 5 minute commute away and I was able to negotiate a decent starting salary and early quitting time on Fridays. LOL!!! I don't know my actual start date yet but believe it will be next week. They asked me to take myself off the market immediately and I agreed to that if they would email their offer immediately which they did. So I am officially done job hunting! Thank goodness. These past few months have been stressful.

Thanks. Both jobs had their advantages. The other job paid a little more an hour and because it was located in a large city there were more opprotunities for my DH to find something. The job I took is in a smaller city but I know DH will find something so we can carpool. I really didn't have a #1 choice. I am just grateful to have a full time job. TOld the pastor this morning and he was okay with me leaving. He was happy for me because he knows how hard it is to find work. He was also grateful that I will help until they hire someone. Thank you. I am pretty excited about it, even though it is a temporary posting (3 years max). It's mostly legal and other specialised translations. It will be a good solid work experience to have on my resume. I plan to go back to school next winter and re-take some courses in German and maybe learn Spanish. I would very much like to have more languages to translate from because it means I could get work for the EU or UN.

Flamey, I do accounting and this position involves auditing.

As for celebrating - I think a glass or two of wine is in order! Want to clink your glass to mine? :) Maybe I should start now. Yea, good idea, Flamey!!!

Congratulations Betsy! The pickings are slim down here. I went for a waitress position (new restaurant)there were 140 positions. 4000 people showed up. I didn't get hired.

Marion, I know what you mean. Every place that I've interviewed with has told me how they have been bombarded with resumes/applications. We had a new Target store open here and they had a hiring fair at a local hotel. Holy cow, the line went down the street for blocks. Looked like people waiting to buy tickets for a concert or something. And those were part time minimum wage jobs. You can just imagine how some of the people looked by the time they got indoors to the AC!

I feel very fortunate to have found something and I will do everything in my power to keep it.
